Caregiver-Sustaining Support

Operates a community habilitation day program serving dozens of individuals with developmental disabilities, and maintains a local events calendar for Broome, Chenango, and Otsego counties to help residents connect with their communities.

Provides emergency financial aid to individuals receiving services, awarding more than $37,000 in assistance to support stability and well-being.

Invests in workforce development by funding employee education, including full tuition for Master’s degrees and advanced certifications. In one year, nearly $100,000 supported 24 employees pursuing fields such as special education, nursing, therapy, behavior analysis, and human services.

Supports family involvement through the Family Engagement Center, which accommodates visits, pick-ups, and drop-offs, and uses the Brightwheel platform to share daily updates, photos, and progress reports with families to strengthen home-school collaboration.

Operates Kids Unlimited Preschool, the only integrated preschool in Otsego County and the first in New York State, serving children ages 3–5 with and without Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in inclusive classrooms. The program supports early development through therapy integration and family collaboration.

Provides lifelong residential and day education programs for individuals of all ages with intellectual, behavioral, and developmental disabilities across New York State, including community-based supports in 14 counties. Programs focus on personal goal achievement, independence, and skill development.

Provides residential support including on-campus room appointments to manage personal belongings and seasonal clothing, and facilitates both daytime and overnight visit scheduling for residents through formal request systems and direct staff coordination.

Facilitates access to Self-Directed Services that allow families to customize support systems for individuals with complex care needs, including hiring staff, accessing therapies, and managing resources according to individualized plans.

Operates a specialized educational setting for school-aged children with autism and developmental disabilities, offering a Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS) model approved by the New York State Education Department. The program includes certified special education and early childhood teachers and classroom aides.

Provides supported employment services and vocational opportunities, including culinary operations at the Oneonta Campus, enabling individuals with developmental disabilities to gain work experience and contribute to community-based operations.

Purchased the Ford on Main building in Oneonta, NY in 2021 and developed 24 supportive apartments to expand housing options for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Integrates speech, occupational, and physical therapy into the daily routines of children with special needs at its preschool and school programs, supporting developmental progress and independence in age-appropriate skills such as feeding, mobility, and toileting.

Organizes group outings, social events, and visits to local museums, theaters, and cultural sites to foster social connections, community engagement, and enriching experiences for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Delivers Community Habilitation services focused on skill development in financial management, health and wellness, public transportation navigation, independent travel, and self-advocacy. Includes individualized service plans and community-based activities such as volunteering, shopping, and bowling to support independence and community integration.

Operates supervised day habilitation programs, including Senior Day Habilitation, offering structured activities such as art, music, dance, gardening, gentle yoga, and walking clubs to promote physical health, cognitive function, and social interaction for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Programs include daily community outings and personalized excursions twice per month.

Provides guardianship assistance and family support through programs like Strong Families, Strong Communities, a partnership with United Way of Greater Oswego County, aimed at strengthening family capacity and promoting community integration for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Reports and investigates all reportable incidents in accordance with 14 NYCRR Part 624 regulations and submits a “Report on Actions Taken” within 10 days of incident discovery to qualified parties, ensuring regulatory compliance and participant safety.

Publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Buzz, in collaboration with Oswego Industries Inc., to share organizational updates and strengthen community connections.
