THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM PROMOTES INDEPENDENCE, CHOICE AND INDIVIDUALIZATION. TCS OPERATES A SIX BEDROOM INDIVIDUALIZED RESIDENTIAL ALTERNATIVE (IRA) IN A TRADITIONAL FAMILY STYLE RESIDENCE. IT IS A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF PEER RELATIONSHIPS AND MAINTAINS THE INTERACTIONS WITH PRIMARY FAMILIES. THE IRA PROVIDES TWENTY-FOUR HOUR SUPERVISION FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. WE CREATE A FAMILY FOR OUR INDIVIDUALS SO THAT THERE IS A HOME ENVIRONMENT AND SUPPORT SYSTEM. THE RESIDENCE IS PART OF THE COMMUNITY AND OUR ADULTS PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL EVENTS THAT ENRICH THEIR LIVES.
- #2 $277KTCS IS DEDICATED TO MEETING THE VOCATIONAL ASPIRATIONS OF ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES BY PROVIDING SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT (SEMP) SERVICES THROUGH OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (OPWDD) AND ADULT CAREER AND CONTINUING EDUCATION SERVICES-VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION (ACCES-VR). TCS OPERATES A WEEKEND RESPITE PROGRAM EVERY OTHER SATURDAY LOCATED IN GLEN COVE N.Y. THE WEEKEND RESPITE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING PLAY AND SOCIALIZATION SKILLS AS WELL AS PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED RESPITE FOR THE FAMILIES.
