Person-Centered Community Integration

Offers day, evening, and Sunday programming through the Chevra Program to support social and personal development for individuals with developmental disabilities, with services available six days per week.

Provides one-on-one community habilitation services in homes or community settings to support skill development for independence, including household chores, public transportation navigation, and self-feeding. Services are tailored to both children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Operates a weekday day habilitation program for adults with developmental disabilities, offering structured activities focused on independence, community inclusion, and social development. The program includes individualized development plans and operates at a facility in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Runs a Mini Day Camp at the end of each summer for children and youth with special needs, offering structured activities, community integration opportunities, and recreational programming.

Provides early childhood education and individualized services for children with emotional, speech, and learning disabilities, including support for foundational independence and developmental skills. This program is one of the largest of its kind in New York City.

Offers respite care services for families and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities, available in-home or at alternate locations for several hours or days, providing temporary relief from caregiving responsibilities.

Operates one of the largest Sunday and school holiday programs in New York City for children with special needs, providing structured, educational, and recreational activities including field trips and holiday-themed experiential learning to promote peer socialization and respite for families.

Provides community habilitation services, including one-to-one training in homes and communities, to support individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving person-centered goals. Delivered 59,649 units of community habilitation services and includes public education workshops on developmental disabilities.

Hosts job fairs, such as one held at Flushing Library on March 12, 2026, to support employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Hosts cultural and community events including Lunar New Year celebrations, Mid-Autumn Festival dinners, holiday parties, and employee recognition ceremonies to support community engagement and staff morale.

Provides structured day habilitation services to individuals with developmental disabilities, including skill-building in communication, self-care, social interaction, and travel for greater independence. Programs are offered both on-site and in the community, with 14,023 units delivered in the reporting period.

Provides family support case management to assist families in applying for OPWDD eligibility and navigating the service system, along with financial reimbursement for goods and services that benefit individuals with developmental disabilities living at home.

Provides free psychosocial assessments to individuals who cannot afford evaluations, supporting access to necessary services for those with developmental disabilities.

Implements systems for incident reporting and investigation to protect individuals with developmental disabilities from harm, ensure high-quality care, and prevent recurrence through prompt response and risk reduction.

Offers pre-vocational and employment support programs including a Community Based Pre-Vocational Program, Pathway to Employment, Supportive Employment Program, and paid internships through an Employment Training Program to help individuals with developmental disabilities prepare for, secure, and maintain competitive community employment.

Operates 11 Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs) providing 24/7 supervised residential care for individuals with developmental disabilities, including those transitioning from residential schools. Services began in 1995 with IRA 1 and IRA 2 and have expanded over time to serve both males and females aging out of institutional settings.

Encourages and supports individuals with intellectual, behavioral, and developmental disabilities in becoming self-advocates within their communities.
