Provides education and training for elected school board members to support effective governance and leadership.

Provides professional development and networking opportunities for principals and administrators to support leadership growth and peer collaboration.

Provides professional development programs for K-12 social studies teachers on Long Island through online and in-person seminars, an annual conference, and the sharing of educational resources. Promotes innovative teaching practices in the field.

Works to improve the engineering educational experience and supports all engineering disciplines through organizational advocacy and collective action among member councils.

Provides a communication platform and online infrastructure—including a members-only wiki, the GEAR platform, and an online resource library—for engineering student councils to share ideas, access guides and expert contacts, improve organizational effectiveness, and strengthen inter-university collaboration. The organization supports over forty member councils nationwide and organizes them into regional divisions to enhance coordination.

Organizes an annual national Engineering Leadership Summit and five regional conferences each fall, hosted at member schools, where engineering student representatives network, engage in leadership development, vote on organizational policy, and participate in host institution events and culture. These events are held annually across multiple locations nationwide, with recent summits and conferences hosted at universities including the University of Missouri, University of Minnesota, New Mexico State University, and various regional sites such as Louisiana Tech University, University of Kansas, and Oregon State University.

Administers membership operations by collecting dues via Wave Invoices and requiring payment as a condition for conference attendance, supporting the ongoing programming and activities of the organization for engineering students.

Offers personal and professional development opportunities for engineering students through conferences, leadership training, and pathways to elected regional and national leadership roles within NAESC, enabling students to build skills in council management, networking, and organizational leadership.

Advocates at the state and regional level for equitable education funding, including increased per-pupil aid near NYC, maintenance of the Save Harmless policy, inflation adjustments, and reforms to Foundation Aid through district-specific modeling and the establishment of a Foundation Aid Review Commission. Also advocates for timely and equitable tuition payments to Special Act School Districts (SASDs) and protection of their authority.

Contracts with Ostroff Associates to support state and local governmental relations efforts, enhancing advocacy capacity.

Advocates for increased flexibility in the use of school district reserves, greater efficiency in BOCES operations, and the creation of a statewide Mandate Relief Redesign team to ensure transparency in new education mandates. Also supports deferral of EV bus implementation and increased flexibility in school calendars, transportation rules, and election procedures.

Engages in targeted advocacy on legislative and regulatory matters, including charter school accountability, opposition to the OBBBA voucher program, support for interscholastic athletics legislation, and opposition to the Wrongful Death Bill due to school liability concerns. Also advocates for changes to school board election rules and local flexibility in cell phone policies.

Operates an online advocacy platform that enables constituents to contact elected officials about public education issues, supporting grassroots engagement and policy influence.

Produces and publishes regular fiscal and legislative analyses, including a budget analysis in March 2026, an end-of-year update in December 2025, a mid-year financial plan update in November 2025, a fall fiscal update in 2025, and an end-of-session legislative update in 2025.

Serves as a clearinghouse for regional legislative activities and provides legislative information to subscribing school districts, with regional membership expanded to include Orange County in 2024.

Submits policy memos, letters, and petitions to state agencies and commissions on issues such as electric utility readiness for schools, universal pre-K class size standards, the Clean Energy Act’s impact on school facilities, and financial amendments related to charter school virtual attendance.

Communicates legislative priorities to state and federal legislative delegations, including advocacy for transportation aid, federal emergency aid, and support for early childhood education initiatives. Produces and distributes materials such as legislative flyers, budget analyses, and district impact worksheets to inform policy engagement.

Supports leadership development among Suffolk County superintendents through training resources, including message mapping guides, advocacy planning tools, DASA resource materials, and a dedicated website for professional networking and information sharing.
