Family-School Partnership

Provides support to PS101 in Queens to promote the educational growth of all children and foster collaboration between parents and the school.

Organizes annual food and gift drives during Thanksgiving and December holidays to support local families in need, including gift-wrapping events. Also provides scholarships for graduating seniors and donations to people in need as part of its community support mission.

Conducts fundraising events and programs, including managing affiliate giving partnerships where a portion of sales from Label Daddy, DeCicco’s Family Market, Scholastic Book Club, and Minted.com support PTO programs through designated links, promo codes, or checkout mentions.

Organizes and funds staff appreciation events including welcome-back breakfasts, holiday gifts, daily recognitions during appreciation week, and end-of-year luncheons to support and recognize teachers and school staff.

Produces a weekly newsletter, manages event communications, and publishes an annual calendar of events to inform and connect the Katonah Elementary School community, ensuring broad participation in PTO programs and initiatives.

Maintains the KES Garden and Greenhouse using PTO funds for construction and upkeep, and supports student participation in planting and harvesting activities as part of environmental and experiential learning.

Provides field trips and in-house enrichment programs for all 500 students at Katonah Elementary School to supplement classroom curriculum, including author visits and special assemblies. These activities are funded through PTO initiatives and directly organized or coordinated by the PTO.

Plans and hosts major community events including the annual Halloween Fair, Back to School Celebration, Family Dance, Field Day, and Science Fair. These events include DJ entertainment, themed decorations, concessions, and structured student activities coordinated with teachers and parent volunteers.

Plans, launches, and manages before- and after-school enrichment programs in partnership with BOCES and local vendors, including vendor coordination, registration, quality monitoring, and providing allergen-free snacks. Programs are hosted on-site at Katonah Elementary School to eliminate transportation barriers.

Runs the annual Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) program in March, promoting family reading through events such as “Starry Story Night” and student recognition activities.

Purchases and delivers school supply packs, funds classroom supplies, recess equipment, and technology updates, and fulfills classroom wishlists to enhance student learning and support teachers at Katonah Elementary School.

Supports and assists school administration and faculty in developing and implementing the school's philosophy, policies, practices, and mission.

Provides early childhood care and education for children ages 18 months to 12 years through a licensed child care center in Beacon, NY, operating Monday through Friday from 5:30am to 5:00pm (or 5:30pm for school-age programs), including during school delays and closures.

Runs a preschool program for children ages 2 to 3 years old featuring both teacher-directed and child-directed activities focused on social development and large motor skills, with a structured daily schedule including learning activities, meals, and outdoor play.

Operates a before and after school program for children ages 5 to 12, offering care from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including breakfast and snacks, transportation via the City of Beacon School District bus system, and serving children from local elementary and middle schools; remains open during school delays, snow days, and closures.

Offers early childhood care for infants and toddlers (ages 18 months to 3 years) with structured daily activities including circle time, meals, nap time, outdoor play in dedicated playgrounds, and nurturing practices such as hugging and cuddling; provides daily written reports to parents on activities, meals, mood, and routines.

Offers a summer camp program for children featuring weekly themes, on-site educational visitors (e.g., Mad Science, Hudson Valley Reptiles, Two by Two Zoo), weekly outings to local sites (e.g., Beacon Library, local parks, Beacon High School pool), and field trips to regional attractions including The Norwalk Aquarium, Splashdown, Bounce, The Intrepid, Showtime Cinemas, Broadway in NYC, and the Westchester Dinner Theatre; provides breakfast and snacks daily.

Accepts donations through the PS 145 PTA Fund to support student opportunities, school-wide programs, and activities.
