PARENTS ASSOCIATION BRONX HIGH SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

Conducts regular meetings, prepares agendas, produces draft minutes, finalizes and approves official minutes, and conducts an annual financial audit with leadership and observer involvement.

Prepares and distributes an annual Senior Graduation Toolkit containing design templates for banners, signs, and decorations to assist families in celebrating graduating students.

Produces and distributes a weekly newsletter with multilingual support (including Chinese translation), maintains an updated list of private bus companies for the 2025–2026 academic year, collects and shares parent-submitted public transit commute routes, and administers a Facebook discussion group for transportation updates and general communication.

Provides financial support for student clubs, sports and academic teams, theater and arts programs, guidance and college office expenses, technology upgrades, graduation-related costs, and student award dinners. Raised $305,000 toward a $320,000 annual fundraising goal through donations from nearly 600 families.

Organizes major annual events including the Spring Benefit Bash and Spring Gala—both serving as community engagement and fundraising initiatives—with the 2025 gala selling out. Also hosts Night Out at Yankee Stadium to strengthen connections among families and friends of Bronx Science students.

Maintains and updates the Parents Association website with current information and resources, administers the PA Facebook page by moderating discussions and approving membership requests, and sells merchandise at events to support association funding.

Hosts educational presentations for parents on drug and fentanyl risks in partnership with public officials and facilitates panel discussions on student mental health, including information about on-site medical and mental health services provided by Montefiore.

Hosts an annual panel of recent graduates discussing college transition, organizes Winter College Night with admissions leaders from selective colleges, provides informational sessions on college admission tests, convenes parent panels on college journeys, offers virtual programming on time management and study skills, and delivers guidance on constructing four-year academic plans and navigating research program tracks.

Organizes and hosts monthly in-person School Leadership Team meetings open to all parents and guardians, participates in their development during the academic year, and contributes to the creation of the school’s Comprehensive Education Plan.

Provides food service at Parents Association meetings, Principal’s meetings, staff meals, Open Houses, orientations, and other school events, including light dinner before each in-person PA meeting. Offers technical support for both in-person and remote meetings and events.
