Family-Centered Stability

Provides expanded educational, clinical, and support services to youth and families in their own homes and communities, reaching nearly two-thirds of the youth served, to prevent out-of-home placement and support long-term stability.

Provides outpatient mental health and substance use treatment, including individual, family, and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation, and crisis support for youth aged 5–26 and their families, delivered in homes, schools, and community settings across 14 counties in New York State.

Provides 24/7 trauma-informed, holistic residential care, life skills training, and emotional support for up to 36 youth at a campus in Albany, NY, through a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) that includes clinical therapy, psychiatric care, family engagement, and structured recreational activities to support reintegration into family and community settings.

Delivers no-cost clinical and case management services—including individual and family therapy, group counseling, crisis response, and school coordination—to students from every middle school in Ulster County, with services provided year-round in school, home, or community settings by dedicated therapist-case manager teams.

Operates after-school programs at multiple public schools in New York City, including PS 36, PS/MS 129, PS/MS 161 (HARLEM CREATE), and PS 153, serving over 500 children daily. Programs focus on academic support, confidence and resilience building, and include activities such as STEM challenges and cultural celebrations.

Hosts back-to-school supply giveaways and participates in resource fairs such as the NYC ACS Back-to-School Resource Fair, distributing backpacks and school supplies to hundreds of children in Harlem and southeast Queens.

Operates an outreach center in Jamaica, NY, and engages in community resource development, including maintaining updated resource lists during the pandemic, creating directories of free internet and reproductive health resources, and distributing school supplies at community fairs.

Established the Vaughn Harper Computer Center to provide community access to computer services during evenings and on Saturdays, supporting digital equity for youth and families.

Operates an Emergency Food Pantry that distributes food packages—including canned and dried goods, fresh produce, dairy, and meat—to more than 5,000 New Yorkers annually. Also developed and distributed food resource lists specific to Harlem and Queens.

Facilitates evidence-based and evidence-informed group programs including GenerationPMTO (offered free over 12 weeks), Strong African-American Families, Parenting Journey, Parenting Skills, Domestic Violence Survivor's Group, and Youth Groups. Includes a seven-session program for African American youth aged 10–15 and caregivers to strengthen family relationships and reduce risky behaviors.

Provides preventive family preservation services to support and stabilize families at risk of crisis, achieving a 98% rate of keeping children safely at home. Offers evidence-based interventions for children ages 0–17 and their caregivers to reduce child abuse, maltreatment, and neglect in Central Harlem.

Rebooted the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) in spring 2022 and hosts monthly virtual and quarterly in-person meetings between PAC members, organizational leadership, and staff to discuss program quality and service delivery. Also hosted a luncheon for PAC members on March 25, 2023, to foster dialogue.

Hosts an annual Holiday Toy Drive for over 1,200 children and provides holiday gifts to families in need, such as the seasonal giving initiative that supported twins Deante and Jeremiah and their mother Raymanda.

Provides summer camp programs serving over 300 children, with activities designed to support youth development and engagement during summer months.

Provides specialized family support services for children with developmental disabilities, as part of a comprehensive suite of programs offered to families in New York City.

Conducts a rigorous adoption screening process, home checks, and meet-and-greet sessions to ensure appropriate dog-to-home placements. Offers a fostering-to-adopt option and a no-questions-asked return policy to support successful long-term adoptions.

Coordinates transportation of dogs between locations in New York City, including from NYC to Brooklyn, and requires foster caregivers outside NYC to meet adopters or new fosters halfway to facilitate placements.

Offers educational resources and training guidance on crate training, potty training, puppy walking, biting and chewing management, positive reinforcement, clicker training, and socialization. Also provides guidance on introducing puppies to older dogs and leading a balanced household "pack."
