Access for Lifelong Learning

Holds monthly board meetings open to the public on the last Monday of each month (except December) at 7:00 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. The board supports governance, policy development, community engagement, and stewardship of library resources.

Produces and distributes a monthly PDF newsletter containing event announcements, book reviews, new library items, resource highlights, and photographs to inform and engage the community.

Organizes live musical performances, such as concerts by award-winning guitarist Gladius, held outdoors at the town park with indoor backup at the library. Events are open to the public and part of community engagement programming.

Curates and maintains a rotating monthly display case featuring local art and collections to enhance community engagement and showcase cultural materials.

Runs summer programs for children featuring outdoor games, themed crafts, educational shows such as dinosaur discovery, and live animal exhibits including traveling zoo displays. Also maintains a children’s room with games, puzzles, early literacy activities, sensory bins, and rotating Launchpad tablets preloaded with educational content.

Provides a dedicated makerspace equipped with art materials, games, puzzles, and building materials to support hands-on creative activities for patrons of all ages.

Provides consistent public access with weekly operating hours: Monday to Thursday from 11am to 7pm, and Saturday from 10am to 1pm.

Offers a diverse collection of print books organized by age group (adult, young adult, junior, children), large print books, graphic books, audiobooks, DVDs, newspapers, and magazines. Also provides access to public computers, high-speed wireless internet, printing, copying, faxing, a reference section, and a large screen TV for public use.

Makes high-quality library materials available to community members free of charge.

Initiates and maintains an oral history project documenting the craft beverage industries between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes.

Provides free hygiene products to individuals of all genders and ages through public donations and in collaboration with Centralus Health.

Provides pre-made or customized book bundles on specific subjects upon request to support reading and educational needs.

Hosts an annual fundraising event showcasing local wine, food, and culture in the South Seneca Area to support library programs and operations.

Provides sports and recreational equipment for patrons of all ages, available for take-home borrowing or on-site use.

Provides Telehealth Kits for checkout to enable patrons to connect virtually with family and healthcare providers.

Provides access to library meeting rooms for community purposes, subject to policy compliance and staff approval.

Provides opportunities for community members to volunteer for special events and projects.

Manages a Seed Library that allows patrons to borrow up to three seed packets at no cost and return harvested seeds in the fall to support community gardening.
