Provides grab-and-go meals to families at two campus locations: the 169th Street campus at JHS 218/Rafael Hernandez and the Third Avenue campus at MS 219 in the Bronx, ensuring food access for students and households.

Coordinates volunteers to assist with student supervision during bus arrivals and departures, meal distribution, clean-up, and monitoring during breakfast and lunch periods in the cafeteria.

Operates a 9-hour school day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., integrating core academics with extracurricular programs such as chess, fencing, music, and arts. The schedule includes dedicated time for literacy, math, science, and play, including nap/snack blocks for K-1 students to support alertness.

Uses a lottery system for fair enrollment and actively recruits English language learners, students with disabilities, and students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Conducts bilingual outreach via door-to-door campaigns, community centers, and multilingual notices to inform District 9 families about the school.

Provides parents with regular academic updates and hosts special events such as arts exhibits, student performances, museum visits, fencing matches, and chess tournaments to strengthen school-family connections.

Uses the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) program and scientifically validated phonics instruction aligned with National Reading Panel guidelines for literacy development in grades K-5, and the Singapore math program—known for supporting English language learners and emphasizing conceptual understanding—for mathematics instruction from kindergarten through grade 6.

Operates a secure campus environment and relocated to a consolidated facility at Cardinal Hayes High School featuring a 10,000 square foot playground and a large auditorium to support music and other programs.

Provides a full-time, rigorous academic program for 404 students in grades K-8 in District 7 of the Bronx, with a focus on economically disadvantaged urban children, including English language learners and students with disabilities. The school operates under a renewed four-year charter from the New York State Board of Regents and maintains high academic performance across all student subgroups.

Collaborates with the American Museum of Natural History to deliver inquiry-based science instruction, including student visits every 2–3 weeks, and partners with the Bronx Arts Ensemble and Columbia University to provide music, chess, and fencing programs that support cognitive and physical development.

Offers speech therapy, physical therapy, counseling, and individualized support for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Licensed master social workers conduct classroom observations, assess students, and support referrals for special education and individualized instruction.

Operates a Family Support Center offering weekly evening groups in partnership with Mosaic Mental Health and Montefiore’s School Health Program, providing free mental health counseling, parenting support, stress management, and child coping strategies. Also provides medical, dental, and vision care to uninsured students.

Employs a team teaching approach pairing a NYS-certified lead teacher with a licensed social worker in grades K-2 and a second teacher in upper grades, enhancing differentiated instruction and student support within the classroom.

Students have won multiple divisions of the New York State Chess Championships, including 26 students winning in 2026, competing against top public and private schools in New York and Canada.
