Equity-Centered Workforce Development

methodology: equity-focused capacity building

By removing structural, financial, and access barriers to healthcare training and embedding support systems like apprenticeships, peer collaboration, and wraparound services, we produce a more diverse, stable, and effective healthcare workforce, because equitable pathways increase program completion, retention, and long-term sector engagement among underrepresented populations. This strategy unifies efforts across organizations to transform healthcare workforce development by centering equity not as an outcome but as a design principle. It goes beyond traditional training models by integrating earn-while-you-learn structures, targeted support for marginalized groups (e.g., single mothers, rural residents), and co-creation with employers and workers to ensure relevance and advancement. Unlike generic job training, this approach treats systemic barriers—such as cost, childcare, and occupational segregation—as central problems to solve, making inclusion and sustainability core to workfor
