LAGRANGE ASSOCIATION LIBRARY

Holds monthly public board meetings on the second Thursday at 7pm in the Library Community Room, with minutes available upon request for years not published online.

Provides free home delivery and return of library materials—including print books, large print, audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs—selected based on individual interests for residents unable to visit due to illness, physical disability, or age.

Manages physical library space, including the August 2024 expansion of the Children’s Room by nearly 2,000 square feet to include a dedicated youth program room, play area, shelving, seating, and storage.

Provides two reservable meeting rooms—the Community Room (capacity: 49) and Conference Room (capacity: 19)—available for free during regular library hours; offers after-hours use for non-profit groups at $25/hour and for-profit groups at $50/hour, contingent on staff availability.

Accepts book and media donations from families (limited to 25 items per family per day) and provides tax-deductible donation receipts upon request at the Circulation Desk.

Operates as a passport acceptance facility for library patrons, providing in-person application processing since 2016.

Provides a seed library offering vegetable, herb, and flower seeds for patrons to start gardens, and accepts seed donations from the community.

Offers a Library of Things program providing free access to non-traditional items such as Amazon Kindles pre-loaded with books, Bernette 33 sewing machines, Nature Exploration Backpacks, and AWE Early Literacy Tablets for in-library use.

Runs a community pantry that provides non-perishable food and personal hygiene items to individuals in need.

Provides full-service library operations for the town of LaGrange, NY and surrounding communities, including circulation of books and media, access to digital and physical collections, and educational, enrichment, and recreational opportunities for all age groups.

Offers a collection of thousands of audio and braille titles, including over 70 magazine titles, free mailing of materials to and from patrons' homes, loan of special playback equipment, and support for the BARD mobile app on iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire devices.

Offers free access to cultural institutions through a museum pass program, lending physical passes for a 3-day period and issuing digital passes valid only on the reservation date; includes partner institutions such as the American Museum of Natural History, Innisfree Garden, The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, and Mohonk Preserve.

Offers access to nearly 4,000 free online courses in high-growth fields such as data science, business, and technology through a partnership with Coursera.

Offers access to six public computers with internet and Microsoft Office, free wireless internet during business hours, and printing/scanning/fax services including black-and-white ($0.15/page) and color ($0.50/page) printing, free scanning to USB, and outgoing/incoming fax at $1 per page.

Distributes Early Literacy Kits for children ages 2–8 containing books, games, and DVDs on educational themes, and provides AWE Early Literacy Learning Tablets pre-loaded with educational games for in-library use.
