DRIVEN BY THE NOTION THAT "MEN TAKE BETTER CARE OF THEIR CARS THAN THEY DO THEIR BODIES", MAN CAVE HEALTH IS BOTH A DESTINATION AND A RESOURCE FOR MEN SEEKING INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR UNIQUE HEALTHCARE ISSUES. THE FIRST MAN CAVE OPENED ITS DOORS TO PATIENTS IN JANUARY, 2019 IN THE DEPARTMENT OF UROLOGY AT MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL IN NEW YORK CITY. THIS SPORTS-THEMED FACILITY IS A PLACE WHERE MEN CAN FEEL AT EASE DISCUSSING THEIR PERSONAL HEALTH ISSUES, AND SERVES AS A REFUGE FOR THOSE SEEKING EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, INFORMATION, SCREENING, AND TREATMENT, IF NECESSARY, FOR PROSTATE CANCER. MAN CAVE HEALTH IS EXPANDING ITS UNIQUE PATIENT CARE MODEL TO OTHER LOCATIONS, AND IS CURRENTLY IN DISCUSSIONS WITH SEVERAL OTHER HEALTH SYSTEMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

How they approach the work

Named approaches extracted from this org’s sources. Where others share an approach, follow it to see the full set of orgs running it.

  • Meet Men Where They Are
    methodology: meet-men-where-they-are
By engaging men in familiar, non-clinical, culturally resonant settings—particularly through sports and social events—we increase participation in health discussions and screenings because these environments reduce stigma, build trust, and align with men's existing routines and identities.
