Sports-Based Youth Development

Provides educational and recreational opportunities for youth basketball athletes in Rye, New York.

Is constructing a new 70,000-square-foot, five-story school building in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx at 647 Elton Avenue, which will include nearly 30 classrooms and an 8,000-square-foot gym, with completion scheduled before the 2026–2027 school year.

Integrates basketball into core academic subjects such as Algebra, Science, English, and Debate, and offers programming that exposes students to basketball-related career fields including business, marketing, finance, law, coaching, broadcast journalism, nutrition, design, fashion, food services, and analytics.

Implemented web content accessibility standards to achieve Level AA conformance on its website, ensuring equitable access to information.

Conducts in-person and virtual open house events throughout the academic year to engage prospective students and families, including scheduled events in April through March. Also accepts student applications for future academic years.

Leads a school-wide advocacy and awareness campaign to address gun violence, symbolized by an orange anti-gun violence emblem worn on all student uniforms.

Provides inclusive co-teaching classrooms for students with IEPs or 504 plans, English as a New Language (ENL) support for multilingual learners, bussing for students with IEPs, and MetroCards for eligible students.

Provides comprehensive educational programming for approximately 400–440 students in grades 9–12 from high-need neighborhoods in New York City, with plans to expand to full capacity upon completion of a new permanent facility. The school is co-educational and operates as a public charter school.

Offers varsity and junior varsity basketball for boys and girls, varsity girls volleyball, and varsity coed track and field as part of its student athletics programming.

Offers on-site college and career counseling to support post-secondary planning and provides access to college courses through partnerships with Hostos College Now, Monroe College JumpStart, Parsons School of Design, and National Equity Lab.

Prepares and serves fresh, nutritious meals on-site for students and offers student life programs and activities to support holistic development.

Offers on-site mental health services with a student-to-counselor ratio of 1:110, exceeding national recommendations to support student well-being.

Provides athletic development and support to over 250 student athletes through RENS, with 99% of seniors receiving full college scholarships.

Provides academic support, squash instruction, mentoring, and social-emotional learning to 34 middle school students, including curriculum in math, Spanish, CPR, first aid, and hands-on STEM and humanities programming. The program recruits students starting in 5th grade and supports them through high school.

Offers college and career readiness support for high school students, including college application assistance, essay writing, SAT preparation, financial literacy, career exploration, and job readiness. Includes a one-week College and Career Access Camp with campus visits.

Coaches and supports student-athletes in regional and national squash competitions, including the Squash + Education Alliance (SEA) Team Nationals, Individual Nationals, and Midwest Championships. Organizes travel for students to tournaments and hosts regional events such as the inaugural Squash + Education Midwest League.

Supports students from 5th grade through high school graduation, with documented success in guiding the first cohort of 10 students to graduation. Launched an alumni support program to continue engagement beyond high school.

Secures scholarships for students to attend sleep-away academic, squash, and leadership camps at institutions such as Kent School and Hotchkiss. Supports participation in national leadership programs, including the SEA Changemakers Tour from New York City to Washington, D.C.
