Community-Centered Engagement

Organizes Books & Bagels events featuring acclaimed Jewish authors, as well as concerts and special events with performances and presentations to engage the community.

Provides year-round early childhood education for children from infancy through pre-kindergarten and oversees programs for children and teens in grades K-12, including serving as preschool and pre-K teachers and leadership roles since the opening of DKECC in 2014.

Operates JCC Rockland Camps, launched in 2013, serving over 500 campers annually, including travel camps for teens and tweens.

Builds institutional capacity through leadership roles in development, including the position of Chief Development Officer, to support organizational growth and sustainability.

Provides ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes for adults in the Bronx and Queens to support language acquisition and community integration.

Provides early childhood education and enrichment services for children ages 2–5 through nursery childcare and Pre-K For All programs. Offers parenting classes for infants and toddlers (0–3 years) and Mommy & Me classes for children aged 18–24 months, featuring structured play-and-learn activities such as story time, arts & crafts, and circle time.

Operates food pantries across New York City with online ordering options and deploys volunteers to provide food assistance and other community support services to individuals and families in need.

Operates indoor and outdoor aquatic and fitness facilities, including heated indoor pools, state-of-the-art fitness centers, and two pool clubs in Bayside and Little Neck with ADA-compliant access, sports courts, and snack bars. The Tanenbaum Family Pool location offers open swim hours and fitness access for adults and older adults.

Operates over 90 service sites throughout greater Queens and New York City, delivering a broad range of social services tailored to individuals of all ages and ability levels, including youth, adults, and older adults.

Runs a network of summer day camps across multiple locations, including Island Quest Day Camp at Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, Explorer Day Camp at Bay Terrace Center and Forest Hills High School, Sababa Beach Camps, Camp Poyntelle, and site-specific camps at Sam Field Center and Central Queens. Programs include general, arts and sports, and nursery camps, with specialized offerings for children with developmental disabilities.

Offers the MIST Program to help older adults age safely at home through technology access, emotional support, and connections to community resources. Also provides companionship services and operates wellness facilities accessible to older adults.

Offers swim classes for children and youth across multiple age groups and skill levels, including beginner classes for ages 3–5, developmental instruction for ages 4–8 and 5–11, and advanced training for ages 6–14 focusing on competitive strokes, flip turns, and endurance. Programs include the Fast Trac Swim Program, which delivers 66 classes over 33 weeks to prepare youth for swim teams.

Certified the City of Buffalo and Erie County as National Wildlife Federation Community Wildlife Habitats, with ongoing maintenance through 2023; supports certification of green spaces including private residences, parks, community gardens, schools, and businesses.

Implements community development initiatives in the Black Rock, Riverside, West Hertel, and Grant Amherst areas of Buffalo, including community gardens, habitat development, storefront revitalization, and creation of community spaces to improve quality of life.

Redeveloped and maintains Market Square Park as a community cornerstone, featuring an expanded mural, concrete staging area, native plant and pollinator garden, and public events; also leads habitat development through the BRRA Habitat Project to establish a National Wildlife Federation Wildlife Habitat Community corridor.

Distributes 100 native tree seedlings (Ninebark and Silky Dogwood), over 5,000 sunflower seeds, and over 1,000 seed packets of native perennial and annual flowers through the Seed Bank Project and 1000 Sunflower Project to support pollinators and urban greening.

Conducts air quality monitoring in homes near expressway traffic to identify pollution sources and potential remediation steps, supporting environmental health in urban neighborhoods.

Hosts events such as open-air markets, free music concerts (including Music by the Murals), the Urban Treks Challenge, River Rock Run, and Migratory May speaker series to promote neighborhood exploration, environmental education, and community engagement.
