OUR WORLD NEIGHBORHOOD CHARTER SCHOOLS

Opened and operates OWN 3, a new elementary school in Corona, Queens at 108-68 Roosevelt Avenue, serving students in Grades K–5, with plans to expand grade levels annually; enrolled students in Grades K–4 for the 2025–2026 school year.

Provides education to students in grades K–8 through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) for grades K–5 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6–8, serving a diverse student population at the border of Brooklyn and Queens.

Provides comprehensive instruction in core academic subjects and enrichment areas including Art, Health, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish for students in grades K–5; implements a project-based STEAM program using Project Lead the Way Launch (PLTW) curriculum to engage students in hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Offers additional parent-teacher conference times for families unable to attend scheduled days and uses the Teacher Reacher web application to enable online scheduling of conference appointments.

Hosts an annual Spring Arts Festival to exhibit student artwork and maintains personal online interactive portfolios for all students from Kindergarten through 8th grade; hosts an annual film festival showcasing student-created films with grade-level Best Film Awards and offers a film program for grades 3–5 including instruction in scripting, storyboarding, and field trips to film festivals and the Museum of the Moving Image.

Implements a symptom-based return-to-school protocol for students with respiratory illnesses including COVID-19, requiring students to remain home until fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms are improving, followed by five days of enhanced precautions upon return.

Provides one-to-one device access (iPad or MacBook) for all students during the school day, equips classrooms with Interactive Whiteboards and document cameras, and uses Google Suite for Education and Google Classroom to support technology-integrated learning.

Uses a random lottery system managed via the Lotterease platform to select students for admission; conducted the 2026–2027 admissions lottery on April 16, 2026, and provides immediate enrollment and potential free transportation for students protected under the McKinney-Vento Act.

Offers 7 team sports through the Middle School Athletic League (MSAL), including coed soccer, flag football, boys and girls basketball, and volleyball; organizes practices twice per week after school and ensures all coaches are certified in AED/CPR/first aid and concussion protocols; introduces team sport competition in 5th grade with full program availability starting in 6th grade.

Delivers special education services, adapted curriculum, and related therapies—including speech-language and occupational therapy—in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) during school hours, serving between 90 and 129 students annually; collaborates with NYCDOE to provide audiology, psychological services, and physical therapy as specified in IEPs.

Implements sheltered instruction and collaborative planning between ELL and classroom teachers to integrate language development with academic content for English language learners, fostering socio-cultural awareness and English proficiency.

Provides instructional differentiation, scaffolding, and push-in support from interventionists for students with disabilities, English language learners, and struggling students within general education classrooms; convenes a Student Intervention Team (SIT) approximately every six weeks to review academic and behavioral performance and monitor progress using assessment data.

Offers Spanish language instruction beginning in Kindergarten as part of its core curriculum for students in grades K–5.
