BROOKLYN PROSPECT CHARTER SCHOOL

Provides daily instruction in core academic subjects including English Language Arts, mathematics, science, social studies, visual arts, music, performing arts, and world languages (Spanish and Mandarin) starting in kindergarten. Conducts annual lotteries for new student admissions in kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grades, issues enrollment offers from lotteries and waitlists, and hosts school tours, special events, and family engagement activities throughout the year to support recruitment and transition.

Runs multiple public charter schools serving students across Brooklyn, including Windsor Terrace, Sunset Park, Park Slope, Borough Park, Kensington, Flatbush, Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill, and Downtown Brooklyn. The schools serve a diverse student body with no single racial or ethnic majority, nearly 48% qualifying for Free or Reduced Lunch, and nearly 30% with IEPs or 504 plans.

Conducts daily Morning Circle/Meeting and integrates social-emotional learning throughout the day through activities, discussions, reflections, and Choice Time for free play and peer interaction. Achieved high proficiency rates on New York State Tests, including 79% in ELA and 77% in Math, outperforming city and district averages, with measurable year-over-year improvements. Produces annual reports, audited financial statements, charter renewal reports, and ESSER plans to meet regulatory and transparency requirements.

Provides comprehensive college admissions programming for all students, including College Seminar, full-class writing retreats, application lock-ins/labs, mandatory Common App completion, essay editing, and targeted support for first-generation applicants and HEOP candidates. Organizes college trips, overnights, Decision Day celebrations, SAT Breakfasts, and acceptance events. Maintains a 100% college acceptance rate and supports alumni through college and career resources, annual alumni events, and ongoing engagement.
