Thematic Programming

Runs the "Classroom to Concert" music education initiative for third through fifth grade students in the greater Saratoga area, culminating in a side-by-side performance between students and professional musicians, integrating the arts into local schools and community.

Organizes and presents a concert season of chamber music performances featuring professional musicians from the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, with a repertoire spanning traditional and contemporary works by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and living composers. Commissions and presents world, U.S., and New York premieres of new choral works by living composers, with a documented history of commissioning over 100 compositions. Recent commissions include works by Jessica Meyer, Derrick Skye, Stuart Greenbaum, Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate, Caroline Shaw, and David Del Tredici.

Plans to present holiday concerts and multi-concert seasons centered on innovative themes, such as human connection and renewal, with a planned six-concert season for 2026–2027 including holiday and guest engagement programming.

Enriches the community through concerts featuring unusual, unfamiliar, and rarely performed choral repertoire, including new works and premieres. The ensemble performs at major venues in New York City such as Lincoln Center, Zankel Hall, and National Sawdust, and participates in external concert series and special events as a featured performer.

Produces and releases commercial recordings of choral music, including original commissions and performances of contemporary works. Has released six albums as a primary artist, including "Echoes and Shadows" (1997), "Le Vin Herbé" (2000, recognized as Opera News Editor’s Choice), "Global Voices" (2005), and "Found Again" (2025), with recordings featured on Naxos and other labels.

Rehearses and performs demanding choral music in a focused and stimulating environment, maintaining a high level of artistic excellence across diverse styles and periods, including contemporary and avant-garde works.

Provides ensemble members with opportunities to develop as soloists, conductors, and composers, fostering individual artistic growth within the collaborative choral context.

Offers free, interactive music programming for families with children in grades K–6 through the Maverick Family Saturdays series, running weekly from June to August. Events include narrated performances, family-friendly concerts featuring works like "Carnival of the Animals," and musical storytelling such as "The Story of Babar the Elephant."

Operates the oldest ongoing summer chamber music festival in the United States, presenting a recurring Sunday concert series since 1916, featuring renowned and emerging artists in classical, jazz, contemporary, and world music genres. Concerts are held at the historic Maverick Concert Hall and other local venues, with programming increasingly emphasizing jazz and contemporary music in recent years.

Maintains, preserves, and promotes the historic Maverick Concert Hall and its woodland setting as a cultural landmark, including stewardship of the Maverick Horse sculpture—carved in 1924 and relocated to the stage in 1979—and hosting annual open house events featuring historical programming.

Organizes benefit concerts to support the preservation of the Maverick Concert Hall and collaborates with local organizations such as Family of Woodstock for parking services and Ravensbeard Wildlife Center for educational wildlife programming integrated into family events.

Commissions and presents world premieres of contemporary choral music, including works by Trevor Weston, Tom Cipullo, Cyrus Chestnut, Raphael Fusco, and The Brothers Balliett, contributing to the modern choral repertoire.
