Conducts and promotes justice-oriented research, policy development, and teaching in family therapy. Systematically advances and shares progressive models of systemic practice through academic and clinical engagement.

Hosts conferences and publishes the journal Springer Briefs to share innovative research and theoretical advancements in systemic family therapy and related disciplines.

Offers direct family therapy services and training programs in systemic therapy approaches for professionals. Engages a community of approximately 300 family therapy academics, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers in advancing practice.

Engages in research to develop and disseminate new treatment models and training techniques in family therapy, including the creation and distribution of a manualized 36-session curriculum for parent-child groups. The institute helped found Family Process, the first academic journal in the field, and has had three of its faculty serve as editors.

Reaches over 4,000 people annually through free lectures and educational programming on family systems, child development, and related topics.

Provides state-of-the-art training programs for mental health professionals on-site, in communities, and internationally, including EFT Core Skills Training offering 48 continuing education contact hours and shorter workshops offering 3 CE credits. Training initiatives include the Social Work & Diversity Program, which has trained over 100 therapists of color.

Hosts annual benefit events such as "A Night of a Thousand Genders" through the Gender & Family Project to support clinical and educational initiatives. Also hosts test events and other public gatherings.

Delivers evidence-based couple and family therapy through a state-licensed clinic in New York, serving thousands of families annually. The clinic accepts over 25 insurance plans, including Medicaid, and reported over 4,770 therapy sessions delivered in a recent year.

Engages in public outreach by contributing to media outlets such as Schenectady Today, Business Talk Radio, and 518Life magazine, and by serving as a speaker for organizations including the New York Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice Foundation of America, and health expos. These efforts aim to raise awareness about mental health, relationships, and spiritual well-being.

Produces and distributes educational and therapeutic materials including workbooks and books designed to improve relationships, manage conflict, support spiritual leaders, and promote personal growth. Titles include “Russell the Worrier,” “Ponycow Shares a Cookie Filled with Raspberry Jam,” guides on marital spirituality and clergy boundaries, and practical tools for couples and individuals to use independently or in therapy.

Provides targeted mental health programs including a Postpartum Mental Health support group for new mothers, the “Music and Movement” program for children with Autism Disorder, and EMDR-certified trauma and anxiety treatment. These evidence-informed programs address specific population needs and have been recognized through media features and clinical certification.

Co-founded and co-developed the Relationship Renewal Model for couples and families, which includes structured therapeutic approaches, training for therapists, and research on outcomes. The model is supported by published resources such as Renewing Your Relationship: 5 Necessary Steps.

Offers training presentations and workshops for mental health professionals and faith leaders on topics such as burnout prevention, well-being, leadership, and systems theory. Recent offerings include the "Beyond Self-Care" training with Dr. Stephen Sandage and a session for Boston Presbytery.

Offers professional counseling services including individual therapy, relationship counseling for couples (including pre-marital counseling), family counseling, and premarital assessments using structured sessions with licensed therapists. Services are available across Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties and are grounded in models such as the Relationship Renewal Model.

Offers consulting and coaching services tailored to business and organizational clients, including leadership development, team building, workplace conflict resolution, family business consultations, critical incident debriefing, and strategic planning. Executive coaching focuses on leadership style, emotional intelligence, and managing anxiety within workplace systems.

Delivers confidential psychotherapy, coaching, and support groups for clergy, along with consulting services for congregations and judicatories. Services include pastoral transition support, congregational visioning, strategic planning, grief processing, crisis management, boundary training, mediation, and psychosocial assessments.

Operates a comprehensive training program for mental health professionals, including graduate internships, post-graduate residencies for licensure supervision, and external training in Bowen Systems theory. The program supports clinicians in achieving licensure and advancing their skills in systemic therapy.

Enables clients to request therapy records and documents from their therapists as part of service delivery and compliance with client rights.
