Relational Inclusion Model

Provides basketball coaching and mentoring programs that focus on developing life skills, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and leadership in student athletes of all ages and skill levels, with ongoing programming in the Bronx.

Offers resume building, certification classes, and job placement assistance to program participants and their families to support career readiness and economic stability.

Operates an education program providing tutoring, homework help, college placement support, and scholarship or tuition assistance through certified teachers and assistants.

Teaches essential life skills such as tying a tie, changing a tire, and driving to support personal development and independence, including assistance with obtaining a driver's permit or license.

Has provided continuous athletic development programming for at least two years to participating families, supporting long-term engagement and growth.

Offers a range of youth development programs targeting individuals aged 7 to 24, including athletic, educational, and life skills initiatives.

Conducts and collaborates on research projects examining the impact of adaptive recreation on health and wellness, including a pilot study with Nazareth University Occupational Therapy Students on pickleball participation among individuals with Parkinson’s disease and programming that contributes to ongoing research in this area.

Participates in the Western New York Adaptive & Inclusive Sports Collaborative to support sector-wide growth and offers a free, self-paced online training program with a Certificate of Completion to build knowledge and skills in inclusive recreation.

Collaborates with inclusion specialists to evaluate parks and recreation facilities for physical accessibility and social inclusion, supporting systemic improvements in adaptive recreation infrastructure.

Operates the DirectConnect program and other outreach initiatives to link individuals with disabilities, families, providers, and community partners to inclusive recreation programs and resources. Engages in public outreach through community events, resource fairs, and monthly programming to expand access across the region.

Offers personalized support to individuals with disabilities during recreational activities such as cycling, pickleball, and tennis, including assistance with equipment use and access. Support is provided in community settings and includes help transferring to hockey sleds and accessing rinks for adaptive ice hockey.

Reached 10,560 individuals through 125 events totaling 304.5 hours of engagement in 2024, with a goal to connect with 1,000 individuals monthly through outreach and programming.

Provides a range of adaptive recreation programs including sled hockey, wheelchair basketball (Rochester Rockets), wheelchair tennis, pickleball, adaptive cycling, kayaking, fencing, fishing, and whitewater rafting for individuals with disabilities in Greater Rochester, Finger Lakes, and Western New York. Programs include regular practices, clinics, and special events such as the Pickle Dink & Lob tournament and adaptive kayak launch demonstrations.

Offers access to adaptive kayak equipment such as outriggers, adjustable seatbacks, and paddle pedestals through the Accessibility Education Program, enabling participation in outdoor recreation.

Hired a volunteer coordinator in 2021 and received 1,053.25 hours of volunteer support in 2024 to assist with program delivery and outreach.

Operates a specially designed Miracle Field with a rubberized and cushioned surface to enable safe play, hosting spring and fall baseball seasons for children aged 4–21 and an adult program during the summer. The program includes 15 weekly games per season and serves over 700 children and adults with disabilities annually.

Offers adaptive soccer programming during the summer and hosts social events throughout the year, including a drive-by trick-or-treat event and Halloween festival, to promote community engagement for individuals with disabilities.

Hosts an annual golf outing event at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale, NY, to support programming for individuals with disabilities.
