Integrated Trauma Recovery

Conducts advocacy and education work to improve mental health access and care, reaching thousands annually, and advances organizational mission through intergovernmental relations and public affairs initiatives.

Provides mental health professional development, training, technical assistance, strategic advising, workshops, and online courses to nonprofit organizations, government agencies, corporations, and private sector entities in New York City and nationally to support mental health and emotional wellness initiatives.

Partners with government, technology companies, corporations, healthcare providers, and universities to co-develop solutions addressing systemic challenges in the mental health system.

Offers tailored mental health services and support programs for individuals and families across life stages through local centers, including Family Resource Centers in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens serving approximately 3,000 youth and parents annually with parenting classes, support groups, and psycho-educational workshops. Also includes Adolescent Skills Centers providing educational and vocational services for youth aged 16–21.

Operates and opens new community-based facilities to expand access to mental health services, such as the newly opened community center on Staten Island.

Organizes and hosts an annual Disaster Behavioral Health Conference, with the 2024 event scheduled in Nashville, Tennessee, to convene experts and stakeholders in the field.

Provides 24/7/365 confidential mental health and crisis support through multiple hotlines including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, NYC 988, the Disaster Distress Helpline, and specialized lines such as the BraveLine for NYC public school students, the NFL Lifeline, and the OASAS HopeLine. These services are accessible via call, text, and webchat, with over 460,000 annual contacts and multilingual support including interpreter services for over 150 languages.

Delivers crisis intervention and emotional care to disaster survivors, provides behavioral health support related to the emotional impact of disasters including the COVID-19 pandemic, and offers disaster behavioral health preparedness training nationwide. Maintains a digital resource library and administers the Disaster Distress Helpline as part of national crisis response infrastructure.

Operates two Centers for Recovery and Wellness in Ronkonkoma and Riverhead that provide evidence-based mental health rehabilitation services using creative arts, symptom management, adventure-based activities, peer support, and cognitive remediation to support recovery and life rebuilding.

Implements a care management program for children with physical and behavioral health needs, providing comprehensive care coordination, individualized care plans, transitional care, appointment transportation assistance, and electronic information sharing among providers to improve health outcomes and reduce hospitalizations.

Delivers Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST), Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), and Family Support and Training (FST) services in community settings to improve functional abilities, achieve person-centered goals, and support families using trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches.

Provides non-clinical, peer-delivered Empowerment Services and mobile behavioral health supports to build skills, manage symptoms, and promote community participation and independence for adults with serious mental illness and addiction disorders.

Provides information and referrals to community resources for individuals with mental health or emotional needs, their families, and service providers in Suffolk County; conducts brief assessments and advocacy through direct calls to service providers to facilitate access to care.

Provides mental health services for individuals experiencing mental health challenges for the first time and those in recovery from psychiatric disabilities, including person-centered, goal-oriented care management for adults with chronic mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders.

Operates a one-to-one telephone peer support line available Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., offering mutual support from trained peer specialists to individuals in emotional distress.

Offers peer-led support groups for individuals experiencing emotional distress, trauma, substance use, altered states, and psychiatric labels, including in-person, virtual, and Veteran-specific groups; employs trained peer specialists with lived experience to facilitate mutual support.

Provides professional training, conferences, recovery and wellness specialist training classes, and operates a Careers in Recovery and Wellness Training Center to train peer specialists; equips the mental health workforce with current skills and knowledge.

Provides permanent supported and supportive housing, emergency shelter for male veterans, and individualized case management services that develop wellness plans addressing health, finances, employment, and education; includes linkages to community resources for housing and economic stability.
