Inclusive Historical Narrative

Facilitates archaeological digs and resumes surveys at 18th-century military sites within the Lake George Battlefield Park to uncover and interpret historical evidence.

Hosts an annual August meeting that includes trustee elections, a walking tour of the park, and a guest speaker on regional history.

Organizes annual and special commemorative events including Memorial Day ceremonies honoring soldiers from 1755 to the present, reenactments of historical events such as Henry Knox’s Noble Artillery Train, and public readings of the Declaration of Independence.

Operates the Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Center and Interpretive Center, opened in 2021 and 2022, featuring exhibits, artifacts, and dioramas on the site's historical significance, including the Battle of Lake George and Fort George. The center welcomed over 2,500 visitors in its first year.

Refurbishes and rededicates historic bronze sculptures, dioramas, and historical markers at Lake George Battlefield Park, including works originally created in 1903 and new markers commemorating events such as Carleton's Raid and the capture of Fort George.

Produces a weekly radio program and podcast titled “Lake George Battlefield Moments,” distributed via YouTube, featuring discussions on battlefield history with Alliance Trustees and special guests.

Organizes public lectures, guided tours, and programs featuring award-winning historians and special guests to educate the public on the historical significance of the Lake George battlefield and related events, including the Battle of Lake George and Henry Knox’s Noble Artillery Train.

Organized and conducted the reinterment of 44 Continental soldiers and associated personnel who died in 1776 at a military hospital on the park site, including a planned ceremony in May 2026.

Maintains and provides access to articles, media collections, and online content detailing historical events and figures associated with the Lake George Battlefield Park and Fort George.

Undertakes ongoing preservation, stabilization, and restoration work at the Ten Broeck Mansion, including structural repairs, roof and drainage remediation, carriage loop drive restoration with ADA-compliant surfaces, and fencing replacement, supported by grants from foundations and state agencies.

Curates and maintains permanent and rotating historical exhibits at the Ten Broeck Mansion, including period rooms like the War of 1812 Room, and stewards a diverse collection of textiles, documents, books, drawings, portraits, furniture, photographs, and archaeological evidence related to Albany County’s history, including material on enslaved persons.

Provides free and low-cost educational programs tailored for families, schools, and senior centers, including hands-on arts activities, children's educational materials, and virtual series using primary sources such as artwork and archival documents.

Documents, digitizes, and transcribes archival materials related to intergroup relationships in early Albany County (1664–1827), including full-text transcription of the Van Allen Family Register and other primary sources to enhance collections care and researcher accessibility.

Organizes and deploys volunteers in a range of activities including leading educational tours, supporting visitor services, maintaining gardens, transcribing historical documents, assisting with events, preparing supplies, and conducting mailings to support museum operations and outreach.

Organizes public cultural events including concerts, lecture series, and workshops on topics such as untold stories in early Albany County history, historic handwriting, and grant writing, both in-person and online as part of ongoing public engagement initiatives.

Provides seasonal guided mansion tours from late April to mid-October, including themed Freedom & Opportunity Immersion Tours, and free self-guided access to the four-acre historic gardens with educational brochures, kiosk information, and photo books for enhanced visitor understanding.

Preserves, presents, and promotes the history and culture of Albany County through the operation of the 1798 Ten Broeck Mansion as a publicly accessible historic site, including period-specific rooms, exhibits, and collections of historical artifacts and art.

Operates a free-admission museum shop that sells handmade, history- and garden-inspired goods created by local artists, open during all public programs and special tours, with proceeds supporting educational museum operations.
