- #1 primary $3KThe society publishes a monthly newletter highlighting society activity and historical articles. We own the rights to several publications on local history. We reprinted Manitou Beach Trolley Days, Barns of Greece, Pioneer Families of Greece Vol 1, and Our Town in WW2. These are available on Amazon.com and in our gift shop. In November we published Pioneer Families of Greece - Vol 2. an extension of Vol 1 with more families. The project on a historical survey of the works of local african american architect Thomas W Boyd Jr. is awaiting final approval; we are hoping to turn it into a book on his works like we did with James Johnson, another local architect of note. We are also working on a history of Greece Central School District school 5, built in 1930, and recently removed to make way for the new GCSD Transportation Facility. We worked with the school district to establish a memorial to the building on its former site. Parts of the 1930 time capsule retrieved from the building were preserved and incorporated into a new capsule in the memorial to be opened in 2075. We continue to operate and improve a website that gives the public access to society decuments and media, and we outreach to the community via FaceBook and YouTube.
- #2 $2KEstablished a college scholarship program for high school seniors who are residents of the town of Greece. Given in the name of Warren G Crandell, who donated part of his estate to the society. $2000 awarded to a senior or seniors who are going to major or minor inEducation, or History at a 2 or 4 year college. Warren was a WW2 vet and retired school teacher. He passed away in 2021 at age 95. At a minimun $2000 will be awarded each year; $1000 in June to help with expenses to start college, and $1000 in January of the students freshman year provided a 2.75 GPA is maintained. Additional scholarships mat be awarded by the GHS board.
