Operates a team of five certified peace officers who investigate animal cruelty reports, respond to 9-1-1 referrals, and conduct arrests across Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, and Livingston Counties. In 2025, the team responded to 2,978 calls for service.

Provides low-cost spay and neuter surgeries through the SNIP program for qualified pet owners and feral cat caretakers, with services delivered by a dedicated veterinary team at the on-site Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic. Each procedure includes vaccinations, pain medication, and a general exam.

Offers nationally recognized Pet CPR and First Aid certification programs for children in grades 3–5 and individuals aged 14 and older through a partnership with Safety Team Solutions.

Offers pet behavior consultations and operates the Pet Peeves helpline, providing training and behavioral advice via phone and email to help pet owners address concerns and improve communication with their pets.

Operates a three-month psychoeducational program (ACIP) for individuals convicted of animal crimes, conducted in partnership with the Monroe County Office of Probation, to promote accountability and understanding of animal abuse motivations.

Facilitates adoptions of senior pets through foster-based rehabilitation and targeted promotion efforts.

Provides comprehensive shelter and veterinary care for approximately 10,000 animals annually, including immediate medical treatment, orthopedic surgeries, and post-recovery care. Animals receive microchips, vaccinations, and behavior assessments upon intake to support adoption readiness.

Provides staff training on defensive handling and dog fight intervention, and delivers educational workshops on animal behavior to community groups and partner organizations, including off-site presentations.

Offers summer camp and youth engagement programs for children ages 8–17, featuring hands-on animal welfare activities, shelter interactions, and educational themes. Programs continue uninterrupted during facility construction.

Offers multiple sponsorship and recognition opportunities including animal sponsorships covering food and medical care, kennel or condo sponsorships with donor-honoree naming for one year, engraved pavers in memorial garden or sidewalk, and permanent ceramic tile displays in the shelter lobby, with gift levels ranging from $250 to $1,000.
