Operates a 24/7 confidential cruelty hotline and a cruelty investigation unit to respond to reports of animal abuse in Allegany County. Conducts investigations, issues Notices to Comply and court tickets, seizes animals in severe cases with court orders, and accepts voluntary surrenders from owners involved in complaints. Provides educational guidance and follow-up welfare checks to ensure compliance with state animal laws.

Operates a public animal shelter open seven days a week from noon to 4 p.m. for adoptions, inquiries, and pet surrenders. Provides daily care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for abandoned, neglected, and abused companion animals in Allegany County.

Organizes and hosts annual fundraising events such as the Scramble 4 Animals Golf Tournament, theme basket auction, Christmas cookie sale, and Pet Pics with Santa to support animal care and operational needs.

Provides socialization and enrichment for shelter cats through holding, petting, brushing, and reading aloud to improve their well-being and adoptability.

Operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic that has spayed and neutered over 9,000 animals since opening in 2015. Provides surgical sterilization for all dogs and cats prior to adoption and offers seasonal Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) services for community and feral cats between November and mid-April.

Provides comprehensive veterinary care for shelter animals and those in need, including treatment for injuries, illnesses, and chronic conditions. Examples include surgical repair of broken legs, emergency frostbite care, palliative and end-of-life care, and treatment for malnutrition, cancer, and dental disease. Relocates stray and orphaned cats to barns and other properties where they can serve as working cats in humane population control roles.

Provides spay/neuter services for abandoned dogs and facilitates their placement with adoptive families once healthy.
