Grassroots-to-Leadership Pipeline

Conducts narrative-shaping campaigns and media outreach to elevate the visibility and electoral viability of Black women in politics, including presenting research findings at public forums such as the National Press Club.

Produces and publishes recurring comprehensive reports on the status of Black women in American politics, including historical context, current representation, and electoral trends. These include joint publications with the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), such as the "Black Women in American Politics" series and special reports on congressional representation and election analysis.

Designs, conducts, and releases original polling and data analysis focused on Black women voters, including their political concerns, electoral behavior, and engagement. Findings are disseminated through public reports and media briefings, such as the 2024 Black women voters poll conducted in partnership with HIT Strategies.

Engages Black women in public debate and social action through digital campaigns, communications, and organizing initiatives designed to increase civic participation and leadership in American politics.

Organizes and hosts salon conversations, tele-town halls, roundtables, and digital events—including the Sunday Brunch Series, Facebook Live, and Twitter chats—to engage Black women in political dialogue, promote civic participation, and strengthen leadership development.

Implements long-term strategies to recruit, train, and support Black women candidates for elected office through comprehensive programming, partnerships, and national network-building efforts aimed at strengthening civic and political leadership capacity.

Engages in sustained advocacy around international migration review forums, hosts side events at international venues such as the Palais des Nations in Geneva, and participates in high-level roundtables and policy negotiations to advance feminist, rights-based migration policy.

Convenes working groups to coordinate advocacy, issue joint statements, and conduct research, and hosts virtual monthly member meetings to share updates and coordinate network activities.

Conducts participatory consultation processes with migrant communities and grassroots organizations to develop a feminist migration policy agenda, including interviews with 30 organizations and a two-year consultation. Organizes forums and contributes to the development of policy agendas through participant-led analysis and strategy sessions.

Offers an internship program where participants contribute to global advocacy, research, communications, and network coordination projects, and invites organizations to participate as observers in all programmatic work of the network.

Operates the LIGA (Leadership in Global Advocacy) pilot program to develop grassroots leadership among migrant women, including capacity-building workshops and leadership development for grassroots organizations. In 2023, the program launched with four groups globally, and 16 leaders from nine organizations have completed it, with eight joining WIMN's network.

Organizes major thematic forums such as the 2024 Feminist Forum on Migration & Displacement in Bangkok and participates in public events such as the 2023 International Women's Day Rally to advance migrant rights and feminist perspectives.

Routinely shares research, analysis, commentaries, and educational materials on gender and migration, climate change, and workers' rights through the website, email, and social media. Produces and curates multilingual graphic summaries, background materials, and resources on women's human rights in migration.

Produces the Spotlight Report on Global Migration, which includes critical analyses and specific policy recommendations, and organizes its launch at parallel events during international forums such as the International Migration Review Forum. Also provided key analysis for the report ahead of the 2022 forum.

Generates and publishes research outputs including graphic summaries of webinar results, data, analysis, and movement demands to inform the global Feminist Migration Policy Agenda. These are widely distributed and available on the organization's website.

Researches, publishes, and launches policy briefs such as 'Policy Demands: Gender, Climate and Migration,' which are presented at key events like NGO-CSW Parallel Events to influence policy discourse.

Supports grassroots representatives to engage in international policy spaces, including the Global South Women's Forum, Global Forum on Migration and Development, Feminist Forum on Migration and Displacement, AWID Forum 2024, and Civil Society Mechanisms at CWM and CSW, including funding for 23 participants to attend the Feminist Forum on Migration & Displacement.

Conducts virtual webinars and convenes multi-phase gatherings to build analysis and strategy on migration, gender, climate change, and feminist issues, engaging grassroots organizations across regions. In one instance, convened 110 participants from over 35 countries.
