Funds nursing scholarships at SUNY Canton, including awarding four scholarships for the 2023-24 academic year, to support the development of future nursing professionals.

Provides financial support for hospital infrastructure, including fulfilling pledges for the construction of a new pavilion, purchasing medical equipment to meet critical needs, and funding building renovations and expansions in key departments such as the Cancer Center, Birthplace Labor and Delivery, Cardiology, and Mammography.

Organizes and hosts recurring fundraising events including annual golf tournaments, soup luncheons, scrub sales, wreath and poinsettia sales, pickleball events, and holiday flora sales to support hospital programs, particularly oncology services and other clinical departments.

Provides financial and operational support for the maintenance of the Butterfly Garden located at the E.J. Noble Building in Canton, NY.

Operates a volunteer-run gift shop at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, open weekdays from 9am to 5pm, serving as the primary source of fundraising revenue for the organization. The shop has been in operation since 1951 and is stocked with items to meet customer needs and wishes.

Provides a Mother’s Day gift basket to the mother of the first baby born at Canton-Potsdam Hospital on or after Mother’s Day each year.

Conducts physician advocacy efforts in collaboration with the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) to influence state legislation affecting physicians in New York.

Facilitates collaboration among local healthcare organizations to develop best practices for patient care, including the creation of an Opioid Guideline to support physician-led quality improvement in addiction treatment.

Provides scholarships and loan repayment support to medical students and graduates in the Rochester area, including annual awards of at least $10,000 for surgical residencies and support for primary care trainees based on tuition costs.

Hosts scheduled events such as a golf outing on August 11, 2026, at Legacy at Clover Blossom and another event on October 15, 2026, at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, NY.

Hosts monthly Social Rounds events and five annual meetings focused on addiction and chemical abuse treatment, providing opportunities for physician education, networking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Produces and publishes an annual MCMS Directory of Members, a trusted reference listing physicians alphabetically and by zip code, used by local physicians and staff for professional and referral purposes.

Accepts applications year-round for the "Friends of the Society" business engagement program to foster collaboration between the medical society and local businesses.

Provides a physician referral service for MCMS members, featured in multiple issues of The Bulletin and Doctor’s Advice Magazine, as well as on the MCMS website, to connect patients with physicians.

Maintains a website receiving 5,000 monthly page views that delivers up-to-date information on medical events, health alerts, managed care, and healthcare legislation.

Presents the annual Edward Mott Moore Award to one physician and one layperson in recognition of outstanding service to the medical profession and the community.

Produces and distributes The Bulletin, a quarterly journal read by over 1,200 physicians, and sends a weekly email newsletter (The Weekly Update) to more than 1,000 physicians with updates on events, advocacy, and practice management.
