Culturally Grounded Belonging

methodology: culturally_rooted_community_engagement

By embedding support within the religious and cultural frameworks of Orthodox Jewish communities, individuals and families achieve lasting LGBTQ+ inclusion and psychosocial resilience, because change is most sustainable when it affirms rather than challenges core identity commitments. This strategy centers on aligning LGBTQ+ inclusion with existing religious values, practices, and communal structures, rather than introducing external norms. It distinguishes itself from rights-based or policy-first advocacy by prioritizing internal legitimacy, using halakha, shared narratives, peer networks, and family dynamics as levers for change. The approach assumes that durable belonging emerges not from confrontation but from culturally resonant integration that honors both queer and frum identities.
