Centering Marginalized Voices

By elevating and centering the lived experiences, narratives, and leadership of Black girls and women of color in programming, advocacy, and storytelling, organizations produce individual empowerment and systemic change, because authentic representation fosters identity validation, builds collective agency, and ensures that solutions emerge from those most impacted by oppression. This strategy unifies diverse practices—from media creation and storytelling to trauma-informed advocacy and intergenerational leadership—around a shared belief that marginalized communities must lead their own liberation. It distinguishes itself from top-down or service-only models by insisting that equity is achieved not just through support, but through ceding narrative and decision-making power to those historically excluded.
