Artist Support Platform

Recruits and utilizes volunteers to support front desk operations, event staffing, and mailer preparation across organizational programs.

Administers regrant funding from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and other public sources to provide grants to individual artists, nonprofits, and schools in Saratoga, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties, including the Community Regrant Program and Individual Artist Grants.

Runs a gallery shop that displays and sells contemporary merchandise, original publications, and fine crafts created by member artists and local artisans.

Operates a community art gallery in Saratoga Springs, presenting approximately 10 exhibitions annually in the Main and Atrium Galleries, including curated shows such as the Annual Members Exhibition, High School All Stars, 120 Intercollegiate, and the summer 10 x 10 Exhibition. Also organizes the Art in Public Places Program, which hosts monthly or bi-monthly exhibits across the county.

Produces and hosts public cultural events including the Saratoga Film Showcase (launched January 2025), concert events such as the album release celebration for "Songs From The Trees," and an annual donor event on October 15, 2026, with tiered recognition and VIP benefits.

Offers a wide range of art classes and workshops in all media for children and adults, including a 9-week summer kids art program with flexible enrollment and a 4-week intensive studio program for high school students preparing for college art programs or national awards, featuring customized academic and portfolio development plans.

Organizes regular community arts programming including monthly First Fridays celebrations, a quarterly art news series, and a Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony to showcase local artistic talent and foster public engagement in the arts.

Hosts an annual free, family-friendly festival in Cortland, NY, featuring art vendors, live music, performing artists, children's activities, wine and craft beverage tasting, food from local restaurants, and interactive art workshops. The event has been held annually, including in 2022, 2023, and 2026, with plans for 40 juried vendor spaces.

Offers a range of participatory arts education programs for all ages, including beginner watercolor painting, quilting, drawing, poetry, watercolor monoprinting, Zentangle, and puppet-making workshops, often in conjunction with public events.

Facilitates artist participation in public events such as the Arts Off Main Festival by maintaining a list of artist vendors and recognizing sponsors throughout the year to promote local artistic talent and economic engagement.

Maintains a fifty-year institutional archive of exhibitions and related materials, including reviews, out-of-print publications, and unpublished images, made accessible to researchers and the public through a digital archive.

Runs a record label that releases vinyl-only recordings by artist-performers, such as the debut EP _No More Evening Plans_ by Karryl Eugene, presented as part of a sound installation.

Manages an online Curated Artist Registry that features over 500 New York-based artists without gallery representation, allowing them to share images and information about their practices annually. The registry serves as a platform for organizing exhibitions and summer programs.

Presents an ongoing program of free exhibitions, talks, screenings, and events featuring emerging and under-represented visual artists, with a public exhibition space open eleven months per year. Recent exhibitions include solo and group shows by artists such as Philip Van Aver, Piero Penizzotto, Rachel Handlin, and Tamar Halpern.

Provides early exposure and support to emerging artists who have not yet received broad critical, curatorial, or commercial recognition, having supported hundreds of artists over fifty-four years through exhibitions, programming, and the Curated Artist Registry.

Facilitates the sale of fine art and mixed media crafts by connecting buyers with artists through direct email inquiry and sales platforms, including original photography and prints.

Maintains a collection of historical artwork by former and local artists and supports North Fork artisans by providing a platform and home for their work since 1948, functioning as an ongoing artisan collective.

Operates a gallery showcasing members' fine art, photography, and crafts, and maintains a seasonal public shop from April through December where it sells artwork and artisan goods including jewelry, wearable art, home goods, and prints by local artists.
