Art for Social Cohesion

Organizes an annual two-day international arts festival featuring music, theater, painting, dance, literature, folklore, and crafts, bringing together diverse artistic disciplines and communities. The event includes live demonstrations and performances, such as the 2021 live painting demonstration by Richard Cabrera, and is offered free of charge to the public through sponsor support.

Offers ongoing art programs for children, youth, and adults, including creative and recreational activities such as writing, painting, dance, crafts, etiquette, protocol, and taekwondo. These programs aim to help participants express emotions, reduce stress, and build social skills, serving over 400 people per month.

Operates a bilingual writing and reading program for children and youth ages 7–14 and their families in New York City, designed to support victims of bullying through creative expression. The program includes writing workshops where children process experiences of mistreatment, instruction in painting, crafts, etiquette, protocol, dance, and taekwondo, psychological support for children, and guidance for parents on identifying signs of bullying. Each workshop cycle culminates in a public reading event where participants share completed stories.

Hosts monthly open literary gatherings in a family-friendly setting to promote Spanish-language literature and bring together literature enthusiasts. Events feature a book and poem of the month, open mic sessions for self-expression, and community discussion, fostering a sustained engagement with Hispanic literary culture.

Supports artists in sharing their voices, particularly those from intersections of race, religion, and culture, through performance and publication opportunities. The organization has published the poetry collection "Una mujer de lluvia con sonrisa de relámpagos" and other literary works, including a novel and additional poetry collections, and regularly participates in cultural events by reciting poetry.

Runs a literary reading club hosted through a WhatsApp group, enabling book lovers to engage with literature and share their passion for reading in a digital, accessible format.

Operates a youth dance group that performs at cultural and educational venues across New York City, providing young artists with performance opportunities and contributing to community cultural life.

Supports initiatives that foster cultural and artistic expression within the Afghan American community.

Co-presents an annual adult summer intensive program focused on concert repertoire by composers of African American, African, and African Diaspora heritage, engaging participants through performance and scholarship.

Formed an Artistic Advisory Council composed of distinguished artists to guide and support the foundation’s mission and programming.

Supports scholarly work through the Classic Song Research Initiative and funds the creation, editing, and publication of content by scholars and professionals as part of its song projects.

Organizes and hosts public educational events including interactive lectures, symposia such as "Song as Citizenship," and master classes with Thomas Hampson on musicality and expressiveness, made available via live-streaming and archived as online resources.

Provides free, publicly accessible digital repositories and interactive online resources through HampsongFoundation.org and SongofAmerica.net, hosting multimedia materials such as concert programs, song texts and translations, essays, educational content, historic images, audio and video recordings, and radio programs related to classic song and its cultural contexts.

Runs the annual Heidelberg Lied Academy during the Heidelberger Frühling Festival and Liedfestival, bringing together emerging singers and prominent artists for intensive study and performance of classical song, with daily classes, workshops, and lectures focused on text-based interpretation.

Produces large-scale music and education projects including the Song of America radio series, Singers on Singing, and audio recordings; distributes content via live-streaming, radio broadcasts on over 300 U.S. stations and European Broadcasting Union members, and free online streaming.

Funds the Hampsong Education Fellowship in American Song and supports the Thomas Hampson Fund of the American Musicological Society, which awards annual grants for research and education in American song.

Funds the German translation and international distribution of the "Song of America" radio series and maintains ASCAP and BMI music licenses to enable public access to music across its digital and broadcast platforms.

Offers in-house and virtual music instruction to youth and organizes concerts performed in public schools, parks, libraries, and senior homes.
