- #1 primary $0THE STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SERVE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE SAM DRAPER HONORS PROGRAM AS WELL AS OTHER STUDENTS WHO QUALIFY FOR STUDY AT THE INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM AT CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY. THESE STUDENTSMOST OF WHOM RECEIVE A PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE SAM DRAPER FUNDSTUDY AT CAMBRIDGE FOR TWO WEEKS AND ARE ENROLLED IN EXISTING COURSES THAT ARE ACCEPTED BY THE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE OF ROCKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE. UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, BOTH THE SUMMER 2020 AND SUMMER 2021 CAMBRIDGE STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS WERE CANCELLED. HOWEVER, STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE AGAIN IN JULY AND AUGUST OF 2022. DURING THIS TIME, TEN STUDENTS STUDIED SCIENCE, LITERATURE, HISTORY, AND SHAKESPEARE AT CAMBRIDGE. STUDENTS WERE GIVEN DETAILED COURSE SYLLABI THAT OUTLINED COURSE EXPECTATIONS AND GRADE REQUIREMENTS. THESE STUDENTS WERE ABROAD FOR 14-16 DAYS. THEY WERE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ACADEMIC PROJECTS SUCH AS JOURNALS, TRAVEL LOGS, MUSEUM VISITS, AND RESEARCH PAPERS IN ORDER TO FULFILL THEIR COURSE REQUIREMENTS. THE GOAL FOR THE PROGRAM WAS TO ASSURE THAT ALL THESE STUDENTS: A) GREW AS INTERNATIONAL CITIZENS, B) DEVELOPED CULTURAL AWARENESS, C) COMPLETED ALL ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS, AND D) TRAVELLED COMFORTABLY AND SAFELY. WE MEASURED THESE OUTCOMES AGAINST STATED ASSIGNMENT GOALS AS WELL AS RESPONSES TO PERSONALIZED FEEDBACK. WE ALSO REQUIRED STUDENTS TO COMPLETE SURVEYS BEFORE AND AFTER PARTICIPATION TO MEASURE THEIR GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT. CAMBRIDGE COORDINATOR DR. LYNCH WITH THE SUPPORT OF HONORS PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR CAROL COIRO OVERSAW THE PLANNING, BUDGETING, MARKETING, RECRUITMENT, AND ENROLLMENT PROCESSES FOR THE 2022 CAMBRIDGE PROGRAM. DR. MEGHAN NOLAN AND PROFESSOR PETER ARVANITES WILL ACT AS THE COORDINATORS FOR THE UPCOMING 2023 PROGRAM, AND ALL OF THE 2022 CAMBRIDGE STUDENTS WHO RETURNED TO RCC FOR THE FALL 2022 SEMESTER WERE ASKED TO ATTEND AN INFORMATION SESSION IN DECEMBER IN ORDER TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THE 2023 CAMBRIDGE PROGRAM.
- #2 $0HUDSON MARKET ON MAIN, IS A CULINARY COLLABORATION THAT EXISTS TO SUPPORT ROCKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE'S OBJECTIVE IN HELPING STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE WORKFORCE READY STATUS UPON GRADUATION AND TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. THE MARKET ALSO SUPPORTS RCC'S HOSPITALITY & CULINARY ARTS CENTERS' OBJECTIVES TO STRENGTHEN HUDSON VALLEY AGRICULTURE, AGRO-TOURISM, AND TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY INITIATIVES FOR ROCKLAND COUNTY RESIDENTS BY PROVIDING PREPARED AND RETAIL FOODS FROM THE HUDSON VALLEY. THE EXPLORE ROCKLAND NYACK VISITORS CENTER INSIDE HUDSON MARKET ON MAIN HAS RECEIVED THREE MARKETING GRANTS FROM ROCKLAND COUNTY TOTALING $20,964.THE MARKET HAS EMPLOYED SIX RCC ALUMNI, AND PRESENTLY EMPLOYEES FOUR STUDENTS IN THE MARKET AT THE HAWK'S NEST. AS THE CURRICULUM PERMITS THE STUDENTS PREPARE ITEMS IN THEIR CLASSES FOR SALE IN THE MARKET.THE INTEGRATION OF THE CURRICULUM AND THE MARKET CONTINUES TO EVOLVE OVER TIME.
