THE NYC LAB SCHOOL PARENT'S ASSOCIATION INC

Offers parent workshops on substance abuse, bullying, and violence prevention, and provides crisis-response services during school incidents to support student safety and well-being.

Provides group and individual counseling, academic and college advisement, crisis counseling, conflict mediation, referrals to external supports, and classroom-based substance abuse prevention using evidence-based programs for students and parents.

Conducts fundraising activities to support student enrichment, academic programs, and school operations, including funding for academic and arts enrichment, Regents and AP preparation, college advising, sports, clubs, afterschool programs, and teacher appreciation and professional development.

Holds monthly general meetings open to all parents and guardians, and conducts monthly Executive Board meetings during the school year to manage Parent Association operations.

Hosts both evening and afternoon parent-teacher conferences, such as those held on March 18 and 19, and conducts a virtual open house in Fall 2025 with a recording made available to the public to support family engagement.

Produces and co-produces student theater performances such as *The Crucible* (2010), *SING* (2017), *Montage-My Hope for Tomorrow* (2019), and performances at external venues like the Apollo Theater, including fully student-driven productions with original content.

Supports student-athletes in developing leadership skills and personal goals through competitive athletics and healthy habits, with coaching that emphasizes personal growth and lifelong skills across 16 varsity sports teams for boys, girls, and coed participation.

Represents student interests by protecting student rights, communicating concerns to administration, coordinating club formation, organizing school events, and holding weekly full-session meetings with grade representatives and monthly meetings with school administration.

Provides weekly email updates and postsecondary lessons on standardized testing, financial aid, and college application timelines, and shares a College Office Resource Drive with all students to support early college planning.

Operates a full-inclusion school model where general and special education students learn together in all classes, and uses teacher enthusiasm, encouragement, and teachable moments to support student decision-making and engagement in the classroom.

Provides support and resources to advance student educational growth, fosters cooperative relationships between parents and staff, promotes parent leadership, and creates opportunities for parent participation in school governance and decision-making.

Maintains and publishes an updated list of student clubs for the 2025–2026 academic year and supports student initiatives through coordination and resource access.

Supports student voice through a student publication that reports on the school community, New York City, and global issues, and maintains opportunities for students to express opinions and request support for initiatives via monthly Open Forums.

Provides step-by-step guidance for parents to set up a NYC Schools Account, including mobile app access starting in Fall 2023, and ensures access to student academic and administrative records through the system.

Established the NYC Lab School Honor Code to promote a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous community guided by trust and respect.
