BYRAM HILLS EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC

Provides consistent financial support for creative, curriculum-aligned programs and equipment not covered by the district's operating budget, including STEAM initiatives, literacy projects, and social-emotional learning resources. Since 1994, has funded over 500 grants totaling more than $5.5 million.

Finances targeted educational initiatives such as the "Written Out Loud" writing program, alternative seating, greenhouse construction, podcasting equipment, art and music workshops, field trips, buddy benches, and Insta-Grants of up to $3,500 for short-term programs implemented within an academic year.

Constructs and enhances physical spaces for education and wellness, including The Crittenden Commons with a multi-use sports court and outdoor seating, installation of 21 shade sails across schools, creation of an indoor Educational Playspace, outdoor Obstacle Course, Wellness Lounges, and transformation of libraries into modern STEAM and Makerspaces.

Distributed 1,000 solar eclipse glasses to enable safe observation of the 2024 solar eclipse and organizes large-scale events such as the All-District Music Festival and StartUp Final Pitch to foster community engagement and student presentation skills.

Upgrades district-wide technology systems by expanding network bandwidth and reliability, renovating four technology labs into flexible STEAM Labs with modern AV equipment, supplying ViewSonic monitors and myViewBoard software to all teachers, and acquiring curriculum-aligned eBooks accessible via the BobCat-alog for 24/7 student access.

Implements CPR training for approximately 1,500 elementary students, supports Special Education students with Second Step curriculum materials, establishes a DBT Skills group at BHHS for emotion regulation and interpersonal skills, and funds vocational training in 'Apartment 317' for LCC Program students.

Provides students across all grade levels with access to coding, robotics, engineering, electronics, 3D modeling, and scientific research tools through the Full STEAM Ahead! initiative, including updated science sensors and probes, Pupil Core Eye Tracking Glasses, and professional development for teachers.

Funds faculty training through partnership with Stanford University’s Challenge Success program to promote student well-being and engagement, and hosts executive functioning workshops for ninth graders to strengthen time management, organization, and study skills after hybrid learning transitions.

Funds a 10-week economics simulation using real data, hosts guest speakers such as Sam Mihara on historical topics, supports the All-District Music Festival with 400 participating students, funds ceramic arts workshops including Raku firing and lost-wax casting, and establishes a multi-year entrepreneurship pathway culminating in a StartUp Final Pitch event.

Supplies the art department with a thermal bookbinding machine and materials for professional publication binding, and funds specialized tools such as solar telescopes and podcasting equipment to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
