Senior Engagement Through Volunteerism

methodology: senior_engagement_through_volunteerism

By engaging older adults as volunteers in community service, mentoring, and peer support roles, we enhance their well-being and strengthen community capacity, because meaningful contribution fosters purpose, social connection, and mutual benefit. This strategy centers on leveraging the skills, experience, and availability of seniors not as recipients of care but as active agents of change. It distinguishes itself from purely service-delivery models by emphasizing reciprocity—where both the volunteer and the community benefit—and integrates themes of dignity, intergenerational connection, and civic participation. While some organizations focus narrowly on senior support or volunteer management, this approach unifies them into a theory of change where aging is framed as a resource, not a risk.
