Journalism as Civic Infrastructure

By producing rigorous, accessible, and community-connected journalism, we strengthen democratic engagement and public trust, because reliable information and inclusive narratives are foundational to informed, resilient communities. This strategy treats journalism not merely as news delivery but as a public good essential to democracy—like schools or libraries. It unites organizations that invest in truth-telling, narrative depth, and structural accountability, using media to counter misinformation, amplify marginalized voices, and foster civic agency. What distinguishes it from purely operational media production is its theory of change: that high-quality, ethically grounded journalism builds the cognitive and cultural foundations for collective action and systemic accountability.
