Collective Voice Amplification

Represents the interests of the realty industry before government entities and the public, including monitoring realty issues at local, state, and national levels, advocating for favorable legislation, opposing harmful policies, and issuing public commentary on rent regulations and housing policy. The organization advocates on behalf of apartment owners, managers, co-ops, and allied businesses in Westchester County.

Released and enforces a Code of Ethics to uphold high standards of professional and ethical conduct among property managers and their interactions with clients, suppliers, and service firms.

Represents over 500 co-ops and condos in Westchester and the Mid-Hudson Region through the Cooperative and Condominium Advisory Council, providing support in labor negotiations and access to group workers’ compensation insurance (New York State Workers’ Compensation Group 530) to reduce costs.

Produces and distributes educational content through publications such as IMPACT newspaper and bulletins, reaching over 3,000 readers. Also operated a radio program “Constructive Conversations” and hosts a podcast “Building Knowledge with The BRI” to inform members and the public about realty, building, and construction issues.

Provides direct guidance and support to property owners and managers on compliance with state and local rent regulations, including operation of a hotline for rent-controlled and rent-stabilized properties in Westchester County. Offers legal, technical, and insurance advisory services to members.

Offers a comprehensive suite of membership services including educational forums, seminars, networking events, group insurance, legislative monitoring, and professional development resources to support realty industry professionals, property managers, and allied businesses in Westchester and the Mid-Hudson Region.

Founded the Hudson Valley Women in Construction Group to support women in building and construction trades, and launched the Ambassador Program to enhance engagement and support for new members.

Engages in advocacy at state and local levels to support legislation benefiting REALTORS® and homeowners, oppose harmful policies, and influence housing decisions through lobbying, public campaigns, and collaboration with lawmakers. Examples include supporting limits on listing agreement durations, advocating for streamlined housing approvals, and delaying restrictive building mandates.

Commits significant funding to support large-scale housing opportunities, including a $1 billion contribution to New York City’s “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity” initiative and advancing a $25 billion housing plan to create or preserve 100,000 affordable homes statewide.

Runs a Local Political Coordinator Program where member volunteers track and respond to local-level issues affecting real estate, private property rights, fair housing, and small business interests.

Co-owns and operates OneKey® MLS, the largest multiple listing service in New York State, providing real estate professionals with access to up-to-date property listings and market data across the New York Metropolitan Area.

Implements initiatives to diversify membership, embed inclusive practices, promote awareness of religious and cultural observances through an inclusive holiday calendar, and leverage DEI to better serve client communities.

Offers continuing education, skill development, licensing programs, and improved onboarding through the HGAR School of Real Estate to support member growth and success.

Administers RPAC (Realtors Political Action Committee) education, operates a Pro-Property Platform for direct contributions to federal candidates, supports election of pro-REALTOR® candidates, and recognizes members who contribute financially to advocacy efforts.

Advocates to prevent the privatization of Mitchell-Lama and Project-Based Section 8 buildings and supports reforms to protect low-income seniors and disabled tenants through SCRIE/DRIE expansion and improved access. Led successful efforts to pass the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 and the Good Cause Eviction Law.

Mobilizes public opposition to HUD proposed rules that would impose work requirements, time limits, or forced family separation in housing assistance programs by organizing public comment campaigns and advocacy actions, citing success in 2019 when over 30,000 comments led to rule rescission.

Operates email and text messaging lists to distribute updates, resources, and action alerts about tenant rights and ongoing campaigns, including political and donation-related messages to supporters.

Conducts grassroots organizing and policy advocacy to preserve affordable housing, expand tenant protections, and prevent displacement. Mobilizes tenants to testify and take action at Rent Guidelines Board hearings and engages in campaigns to influence state and local housing policy.
