Provides affordable space for artists to create and showcase their work.

Conducted surveys of performing artists, cultural facilities, and stakeholders, and produced actionable recommendations for workspace challenges shared with stakeholders and policymakers.

Operates artist residencies in partnership with the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning, providing eight artists annually with three months of free rehearsal space, a stipend, and opportunities to present public performances.

Incubates new works through New 42 Studios and artist mentorship programs, supporting the development and transfer of 1,471 productions to Broadway and other stages since 1990.

Holds a 99-year master lease from the City and State of New York for seven historic theaters on 42nd Street, undertook major redevelopment including the structural relocation of the Empire Theatre by 168 feet—the largest in NYC history at the time—and oversaw the transformation of the Apollo and Lyric Theatres into a single 1,850-seat Broadway theater.

Operates the New Victory Theater, New York City's first theater dedicated to kids and families, offering live performing arts experiences, education, and engagement programs since 1995. Has enabled over 2 million people to experience live theater since 1990.

Operates New 42 Studios, a 10-story performing arts complex opened in 2000, providing rehearsal and development space to over 1,000 nonprofit dance, theater, and opera companies, as well as commercial Broadway, Off-Broadway, and touring productions. Hosted rehearsal space for sixteen Tony Award-winning productions including Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, and Hadestown.

Runs the New 42 Youth Corps, a workforce development program that has provided flexible paid employment to over 1,650 NYC youth since 1990, with members contributing over 19,500 hours annually to build professional experience and prepare for careers in and beyond the arts.

Develops and expands long-term, affordable rehearsal and studio spaces for artists in New York City.

Supports the recognition and advancement of mid-career playwrights by funding the PEN/LPIFT Dramatist Award administered by Pen America Center in 2023 and 2024.

Funds nonprofit theater companies to sponsor the production of new and adapted plays, including works by Bess Wohl, Jordan Seavey, Dominique Morisseau, and others, through grants to organizations such as Roundabout Theatre Company, The New Group Inc, Lincoln Center Theater, and Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Offers access to the arts by providing space for rehearsal or rental for arts-related activities.

Develops and produces new plays, including world premieres presented in repertory engagements. The organization has premiered over 5,000 works over three decades, with recent programming including three world premiere plays in a two-month run at the 28th Street Theatre in Fall 2023.

Distributes 50% of box office revenue to artists participating in its festival programs, supporting their financial sustainability while maintaining a requirement for audience engagement through a ticket-buyer guarantee based on show runtime.

Hosts the Spark Theatre Festival NYC and Spark Musical Theatre Festival NYC, three-week festivals that provide emerging and established artists with opportunities to present polished work-in-progress performances. The festivals feature plays, musicals, solo shows, and dance, with over 60 performances presented in recent editions. Participating artists receive at least one performance slot, theater space, stage management, front-of-house staff, technical resources, and audience feedback through moderated talkbacks.

Advocates on behalf of Thai theatre partners to secure tangible support from government entities through the Thai Theatre Advocacy program.

Conducts the Thai Theatre Survey program and publishes the "Goers-Makers" report, which shares demographic data on Thai theatre audiences and provides an overview of the performance and direction of contemporary Thai theatre troupes.

Provides production grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 annually to support four new theatrical works, enabling staged readings at the Thai Theatre Showcase in New York City. Also awards $200 grants to support eight short theatrical excerpts presented at the closing event of the festival.
