Shooting Sports Training and Safety 5 activities
- Conduct safety and operational enforcement proceduresRequires all shooters to remove targets and litter after use and to recycle brass cases to maintain cleanliness and safety. Mandates that users provide their own target holders for pistol and rimfire ranges. New members must attend a monthly safety orientation led by a designated Safety Officer.
- Deliver firearm safety and certification training programsOffers a range of education and training courses including New York State pistol permit, hunter education, and bow hunter education certifications. Also provides NRA-certified courses in basic pistol, rifle, and shotgun safety, personal protection, and range safety officer training.
- Host competitive shooting events and matchesOrganizes and hosts regular competitive shooting events across multiple disciplines, including Precision Pistol Matches (outdoor Thursdays May–September, indoor series October–April), Smallbore Silhouette matches, Cowboy Action Shooting, Rimfire Steel Challenge, and the annual Dick Halstead Memorial Shoot. Also sponsors the NRA National Indoor Pistol Sectional Championship and participates in Interstate Pistol Association League Matches.
- Operate outdoor shooting ranges for firearms and archeryManages multiple outdoor shooting facilities including pistol, rifle, rim-fire, trap, skeet, 5-stand, and archery ranges on approximately 20 acres of wooded land with cut lanes and target frames. The archery range includes a rebuilt 3D course with 18 stations and a practice range with 4 crossbow-compatible targets.
- Provide indoor clubhouse and shooting facilitiesMaintains an indoor clubhouse with a kitchen, meeting rooms, and a 50-foot pistol range, along with an adjacent enclosed pavilion. The facility supports scheduled member access, including supervised evening use of the lighted Trap field until 9:00 PM.
