Stewardship Through Conditional Membership

Grants voting rights to members in good standing, enabling them to participate in community decisions, review organizational documents, and determine board size.

Hosts weekly Friday evening gatherings known as Stammtisch starting at 5:00 PM, featuring a rotating dinner menu served from 6:00 to 7:00 PM or until sold out, a full bar with German beers and drinks, and socializing in both an outdoor Beer Garden (seasonally) and indoor Clubhouse. Events are open to members and non-members with differentiated pricing.

Owns, maintains, and operates the German Picnic Grounds and Clubhouse in Kirkwood, NY, including facility upkeep through volunteer labor for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, housekeeping, and grounds work. The property was purchased and developed over time, with historical construction dating back to the 1930s.

Offers annual memberships for $30 that provide access to member-only events and discounted food, drink, and admission prices at public events.

Hosts the Binghamton Gemishtechor, an award-winning German-language mixed chorus that holds weekly rehearsals every Saturday at 2:00 PM, learns and performs German songs, participates in singing competitions, and performs at events including the New York State Sängerbund festival.

Hosts multiple annual events including Oktoberfest, Sommer Biergarten, Brats 'n Brews 'n Bands, Harvest Dance, and Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day breakfasts, featuring German food, beer, live music, traditional activities such as the Thieves Dance and beer stein hoisting, and community participation. These events are supported by business sponsorships and volunteer staffing.

Participates in the annual Kirkwood Hometown Christmas event by hosting free pretzel-making and children's activities, promoting German cultural traditions within the broader community.

Seeks volunteers for event staffing (3–4 hour shifts), meal preparation and cleanup, bar operations, and skilled or unskilled labor for facility maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds upkeep.

Operates a Conduct Review Board composed of three members (two from the Board of Directors and one from General Membership) to conduct hearings on reported violations, reviewing documents and conducting interviews as needed. Members serve two-year renewable terms.

Issues photo ID cards to members for seasonal use and provides boat registration stickers upon submission of complete boat descriptions, available via in-person pickup or mail-in option.

Owns and maintains Mountain Lake, including the dam, beach, shoreline, and boat launch. Allocates funds for repairs and environmental sustainability through the Lake Capital Improvement Fund, which is supported by a portion of the initiation fee.
