Network-Based Rapid Response

Facilitates partnerships with hospitals, corporate donors, and employer match campaigns to collect and distribute in-kind donations. Offers customizable programs with impact tracking and administrative support, including scheduled pickups and annual impact reporting for partner hospitals.

Implements programs to strengthen health systems in underserved regions, including Puerto Rico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tanzania, Lebanon, and Ethiopia, through the delivery of medical supplies and ongoing support.

Responds to disease outbreaks, natural disasters, conflicts, and other humanitarian emergencies by mobilizing and delivering medical supplies and personal protective equipment. Activities include support during the 2014–2016 Ebola epidemic and the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in Uganda and surrounding regions.

Distributes rescued medical and wellness supplies to local clinics and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. In one reporting period, delivered supplies 465 times to 207 distinct organizations, totaling over 353,000 pounds and nearly $3.1 million in value, with 96 organizations placing repeat orders.

Diverts surplus medical supplies from landfills by rescuing and redistributing them, contributing to environmental sustainability. Has diverted over 9.5 million pounds of medical waste from landfills.

Rescues unused medical and humanitarian supplies and equipment from hospitals and manufacturers, both domestically and globally, and distributes them to under-resourced health systems. The organization has distributed medical supplies valued at up to $68 million to 91 countries, including shipments in response to crises such as the Ebola outbreaks in West Africa and Uganda.

Engages volunteers in sorting and preparing medical supplies for shipment through on-site and offsite events, including corporate and community groups. Operates pre-vocational programs for at-risk populations such as older adults, young adults with ASD and IDD, veterans, and incarcerated individuals, providing inclusive opportunities for individuals of all abilities.

Delivered 1,600 water filter systems to serve 160,000 people in the Visayan Islands of the Philippines through the Fashion For the Philippines project in partnership with Waves for Water, including training local populations in filter use via schools and clinics.

Funded and facilitated snowboarding activities for 117 children affected by the 2011 Japan earthquake through grants and partnerships with CHILL, supporting four events with 104 volunteers.

Funded the construction of community centers and social and economic recovery projects in the Tohoku region of Japan following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, including a $100,000 contribution to the "Home for All" community center in Rikuzentakata designed by Toyo Ito.

Provided grant funding for TRIPOLAR, a pop-up store in Paris showcasing Ukrainian fashion designers and artists, supporting cultural expression and economic opportunity during crisis.

Provided funding for earthquake relief in Nepal following the 7.8 magnitude quake, supporting on-the-ground operations conducted by Waves for Water and Shikshya Foundation.

Funded relief operations in Beirut, Lebanon, carried out by Souk El Tayeb Farmers’ Market, Offre Joie, and Starch Foundation, including distribution of hundreds of PPEs and masks.

Launched Home for Humanity, an online hub offering free, downloadable self-help shelter designs for displaced individuals worldwide.

Produced and donated over 20,000 medical-grade PPE gowns to healthcare facilities in 14 U.S. states and Beirut, Lebanon, raising over $250,000 to commission small manufacturers and distributing gowns, masks, face shields, and other protective gear globally.

Developed and distributed free downloadable patterns, tutorial videos, and production kits for masks, isolation gowns, protective suits, and surgical caps, including materials in Spanish and partnerships to facilitate local DIY production using hospital-sourced materials.

Raised over $280,000 for Japan earthquake relief through global sample sale events in Tokyo and London, including $267,000 donated to Japan’s Earthquake Relief Fund and additional funds from merchandise sales.

Restored six firehouses in New York and Long Island following Hurricane Sandy through funding and direct donations of equipment, including FDNY-approved radio systems and emergency supplies, in collaboration with Waves for Water and other partners.
