Integrated Recovery and Employment

Advocates for increased government funding and improved policies related to homeless youth services, mental health care, and anti-trafficking efforts, while promoting better strategies for serving at-risk youth at local, state, and federal levels.

Provides comprehensive behavioral health services including clinical assessments, individual and group therapy, evidence-based trauma-informed treatment, and crisis intervention through a multidisciplinary team of social workers, psychologists, and a psychiatrist. Operates the MINDs program, which offers short-term psychotherapy and trauma-informed crisis support specifically for youth with histories of homelessness.

Accepts and distributes new and unused personal care items, cold-weather gear, luggage, baby supplies, art materials, and comfort items to youth in care. Distributes pre-assembled donation kits and manages an online wish list platform through which donors can send essential items directly to youth at program sites.

Engages individual volunteers and young professionals in mentorship, skill-building, advocacy, fundraising, and volunteering to support youth ages 16–24. Offers purpose-built initiatives and structured volunteer opportunities for corporate partners.

Offers youth development programming focused on life skills, mental and physical health, and financial literacy through trips, events, and structured activities to support holistic growth and independence.

Operates a 24-hour, 365-day crisis shelter at 460 West 41st Street in New York City with an open intake policy, providing immediate access to safe beds, warm meals, and hot showers for homeless youth. Refers youth to emergency housing providers when on-site beds are unavailable to prevent unsheltered nights.

Provides emergency shelter and vital support services to youth with histories of human or sex trafficking through a dedicated Anti-Human Trafficking Program.

Runs multiple housing programs including Rights of Passage, which supports young adults up to 24 months in transitioning to independent living with case management; Family Covenant and Rapid Re-Housing Programs, which provided over 75 permanent housing placements; and a HUD-funded transitional housing program that served 52 young adults in FY2025. The Rights of Passage program also served 105 youth ages 16–21 in FY2025.

Operates a Federally Qualified Health Clinic that delivers primary care, pediatric care, OB/GYN and prenatal/postnatal services, STD and HIV screening and treatment, immunizations, management of chronic conditions, and urgent care for homeless and at-risk youth. The clinic is open during extended weekday and Saturday hours, including evenings on Wednesdays, and conducted 4,401 medical visits serving 746 youth in FY2025.

Offers direct legal services to youth through in-house attorneys and external referrals, and conducts “Know Your Rights” workshops for youth and policy training for staff to improve identification of legal issues.

Offers the CovWorks program, which has operated for nearly 30 years to support at-risk and homeless youth in employment, education, and career advancement through vocational training, Individual Placement and Support (IPS), and educational and career counseling. Supported over 300 young people in advancing their education and career goals in the reporting period.

Operates Mother and Child Programs that provide shelter, medical care, child care, parenting support, counseling, education workshops, and vocational services for young mothers and their infants. Also operates a Rights of Passage program for pregnant and parenting youth, which served 15 mothers and 14 children in FY2022.

Provides comprehensive employment services including job readiness training, resume development, interview preparation, benefits counseling, and follow-along support for up to five years to help individuals secure and maintain competitive employment and exceed the SGA earnings threshold.

Conducts sustained advocacy for policy change to include individuals with lived mental health experience in decision-making, including participation in legislative events and campaigns to advance peer-led services and systemic reform.

Assists individuals in applying for public benefits including SNAP, SSDI, Medicaid, Social Security, and reduced-fare MetroCards, with specialized benefits counseling to support financial stability and informed decision-making.

Sponsors and hosts community events such as the inaugural Community Resource Fair and collaborates on public art projects like the PS 24 mural to strengthen community ties and promote mental health awareness.

Provides educational support services to adults in New York City with lived mental health experience to pursue college degrees, certifications, licenses, and vocational training as part of recovery and community integration.

Runs the only INSET program in New York City, providing voluntary, peer-led outreach and sustained engagement to individuals with severe mental health conditions and histories of hospitalization, reducing hospitalizations, incarcerations, and homelessness.
