Produces national and sub-national peace assessments, including the Mexico Peace Index 2026 and conflict assessments such as an analysis of the Iran conflict through a terrorism lens.

Participates in expert panel discussions and global forums such as the Global Impact Summit to advocate for improved humanitarian response systems, conflict prevention, and policy action on interconnected crises.

Produces and publishes the Ecological Threat Report, including a 2025 edition analyzing ecological threats such as food insecurity, water risk, natural disasters, and demographic pressure in 172 countries and 3,125 sub-national areas representing 99.99% of the global population. Includes multi-level analysis integrated with assessments of societal resilience and peace levels.

Produces and publishes the annual Global Peace Index, which ranks 163 independent states and territories based on 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators across three domains: Societal Safety and Security, Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict, and Militarisation. The index has been published annually since 2007.

Produces and publishes the Global Terrorism Index, which ranks 163 countries annually using a five-year weighted scoring system based on four terrorism indicators: deaths, incidents, injuries, and hostages. Maintains a dataset of over 66,000 terrorist incidents from 2007 to present.

Provides consulting services to international organizations including the United Nations, World Bank, OECD, and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT), delivering tailored solutions from short-term engagements to multi-year contracts. Distills complex economic, financial, and attitudinal data into actionable insights.

Conducts research to define and measure Positive Peace, identifying eight factors—known as the Pillars of Positive Peace—that contribute to the creation of peaceful, resilient societies. Analyzes attitudes, institutions, and structures that sustain peace.

Conducts data-driven analysis on the economic value of peace, including research showing that every dollar invested in conflict prevention saves between $26 and $103 in future conflict-related costs. Focuses on the economic benefits of improved peace and cost of violence.

Promotes peaceful conflict resolution, universal freedom from fear and want, and non-military approaches to global challenges through participation in international forums, policy engagement, and collaboration with global networks. Maintains UN NGO status and participates in the American Economic Association annual meetings.

Operates a global network of affiliates and fellows, co-hosts academic conferences, and engages experts in economics and social sciences to contribute research, policy analysis, and public speaking on issues of war, peace, and security.

Produces research on the economic impacts of security policies, arms trade offsets, nuclear disarmament, peacekeeping operations, public financial management, and global military expenditures. Publishes findings in reports, books, policy briefs, and academic journals such as the Economics of Peace and Security Journal.

Conducted an independent review and assessment of the United Nations Security Council's counterterrorism activities over the 20 years following 9/11.

Conducted training for individuals reporting on and documenting stories of conflict survivors in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

Distributes newsletters via email and website to inform the general public about current security-related issues.

Hosted meetings and conferences to increase awareness of global security issues in the U.S. and internationally.

Operates a PhD fellowship program in partnership with the University for Peace to equip practitioner-scholars with resources to develop and launch peace innovations.
