Emotional Ecosystems of Care

Constructed a retreat facility in the Catskills designed to provide accessible and joyful experiences for youth with physical disabilities, expanding beyond individual bedroom makeovers to offer communal, inclusive spaces.

Creates customized, accessible bedroom environments for young individuals with physical disabilities, incorporating personal interests, adapted technology, custom furniture, and thematic decoration to improve quality of life. Projects are volunteer-driven and include full makeovers such as painting and sensory-focused design.

Operates a volunteer-based program that engages 20 or more volunteers per project—up to 50 for larger makeovers—to deliver bedroom transformations and other supportive initiatives for young individuals with disabilities.

Provides hospital scrapbooks to help pediatric cancer patients document their medical journey and produces surgical dolls and practice ports to help them understand and prepare for medical procedures.

Personalizes and enhances the comfort of hospital rooms for pediatric bone marrow transplant patients through decoration funded by foundation efforts.

Provides birthday and holiday gifts, as well as end-of-treatment gift cards and certificates, to over 250 pediatric patients annually.

Supplies electronic devices, books, school supplies, and art materials to support recreation and education for pediatric patients of all ages.

Provides vein finder devices to reduce pain during venipuncture and donates smart board technology to enhance doctor-family collaboration in patient care planning.

Runs a book-of-the-week or book-of-the-month club that provides books and hosts discussion forums for pediatric cancer patients.

Organizes and hosts movie nights, Halloween and New Year’s Eve parties, and holiday events with food, snacks, and activities for pediatric cancer patients and their families at hospitals.

Develops and provides organized medical binders to help childhood cancer survivors manage post-treatment documentation, distributed at Cohen Children's Medical Center.

Delivers comfort bags containing toiletries for parents and transition cooler bags for safe medication transport to pediatric patients in the PACT unit.

Distributes book bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, clothing, and other school supplies to children with cancer through targeted financial support.

Sponsors the HOPES program and its inaugural conference, as well as the Annual Pediatric Cancer Survivor Day, Teen Nights, and Warrior’s Week at Cohen Children's Medical Center.

Deploys certified child life specialists to provide therapeutic play, procedure preparation, family-centered interventions, and parental support to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain for pediatric patients. In 2025, facilitated 19,498 patient encounters, 5,259 parental support encounters, and 5,004 therapeutic play sessions at Bellevue Hospital.

Distributes books to children starting at birth during regular checkups and provides parents with guidance on language-rich interactions such as talking, reading, and singing to support early literacy, school readiness, and early brain development. Over 250,000 books have been distributed since the program's inception.

Organizes and carries out volunteer-led initiatives including holiday events, an annual Winter Toy Drive, pediatric patient activities, toy sorting, and food bag packing. Distributes hundreds of toys annually to pediatric patients and hosts the annual TOAST! to the Children event and We Eat Together food donation program.

Runs a seasonal program from July to November that promotes healthy family lifestyles through exposure to fresh produce, plant-based recipes, physical activity, and shared mealtimes to support family wellness.
