Continuity Through Connection

Conducts research on the neural and physiological mechanisms of music interventions, including studies on music improvisation in stroke rehabilitation and social motor synchrony using smartwatch technology. Also conducted the federally funded five-year Music Therapy Project for Psychotic Children Under Seven at the University of Pennsylvania.

Raises funds and provides financial support to sustain music therapy services, including sliding-scale fee assistance for clients and families, and supports the operation of the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy at New York University through donations and fundraising events.

Delivers individual and group music therapy sessions using Nordoff-Robbins methods to children, adolescents, and adults with autism, developmental disabilities, trauma, cancer, dementia, neurological disorders, and psychological challenges, both in-person and remotely. Services are offered weekly at the Nordoff-Robbins Center at New York University and include adaptive music instruction, emotional exploration through verbal processing, and specialized programming for survivors of sexual assault.

Offers an internship program for graduate students, a post-masters Certification program, and annual training in advanced Nordoff-Robbins techniques. Provides faculty development and clinical education through experienced leadership, including the Foundation Director and Faculty Director, and produces instructional materials and research for the broader music therapy field.

Provides early intervention and mentoring programs for inner-city youth to support positive life development.

Runs the Holiday Cheer Bus Elf Ride program, delivering holiday gifts directly to over 1,500 children and their siblings across Long Island, NYC, New Jersey, and Connecticut, supported by 1,000 volunteers and costumed teams making home visits.

Operates Saddle Rock Ranch Day Camp, a 12-day program serving over 100 children per day with therapeutic and recreational activities including STEM, arts, sports, drama, music, and memorial events, including free door-to-door transportation.

Runs an annual week-long sleepaway camp in August for children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings, providing therapeutic and recreational activities in a supportive environment.

Provides free, ongoing virtual camp programs featuring daily therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities led by trained professionals, along with virtual events such as bingo and trivia nights to foster connection and fun from home.

Offers internships and practicum placements to support student learning and professional development in fields related to child and family support services.

Conducts ongoing visits to hospitals, homes, and other locations for children coping with cancer and their families who are unable to attend camp, offering emotional and psychosocial support.

Runs a virtual program that provides emotional, social, educational, and career readiness support to youth, helping them develop resilience and prepare for future opportunities.

Operates an intergenerational program that connects youth and elders to reduce isolation and loneliness while expanding life skills among youth. The program fosters meaningful relationships between generations through structured activities and engagement.

Provides internships and professional training for aspiring youth workers and mental health professionals, focusing on evidence-based practices for effectively supporting at-risk youth.

Delivers peer support and prevention services to at-risk youth and young adults in NYS-OASAS-sanctioned youth clubhouses, using live concert events and recording projects to build life skills.

Provides weekly, seasonal creative workshops tailored to institutional goals through the RoadTrax program, delivered in partnership with organizations such as BronxConnect.

Operates the VirtualTrax program, featuring a secure, customized Cisco Webex platform with end-to-end encryption, to deliver virtual peer support and creative workshops to youth during periods of isolation, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
