Community-Led Development

Provides free access to an online will-writing tool through a partnership with FreeWill, enables completion of Power of Attorney and Health Care Directive documents, and hosts quarterly educational sessions on advance care planning for entertainment professionals.

Develops, owns, and operates affordable and supportive housing facilities for low-income entertainment professionals, seniors, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and formerly homeless individuals. Operates multiple properties including the Dorothy Ross Friedman Residence (178 units in NYC), Palm View (40 units in West Hollywood), and Schermerhorn Residence (217 units in Brooklyn with integrated arts space). Also develops new affordable housing, including a project for 157 permanently affordable units.

Provides members of the entertainment community with access to cultural events through a ticket concierge service for house seats, distribution of tickets to special performances, and invitations to celebrations and galas.

Provides emergency financial assistance to cover essential living expenses such as health care, housing, utilities, health insurance premiums, prescription co-payments, and grocery costs for performing arts and entertainment professionals facing critical financial need. In 2024, distributed $7.6 million in emergency financial assistance to 5,489 individuals.

Raised $1.8 million at the 2026 Annual Gala, the highest amount in the organization's history.

Administers emergency financial assistance grants on behalf of other organizations for performing arts and entertainment professionals.

Operates a 169-bed health care facility in Englewood, NJ, offering skilled nursing, short-stay rehabilitation, assisted living, and dementia care for members of the entertainment community. Also provides subsidized skilled nursing care at The Actors Fund Home and free flu shots to uninsured professionals. Supplies personal protective equipment to staff and patients at the Entertainment Community Fund Health Center.

Provides housing support through a housing bulletin board for room rentals and sublets, one-on-one housing consultations, online housing information, and affordable housing seminars in New York and Los Angeles via its Housing Resource Center.

Provides healthy meals to home-bound seniors in supportive housing.

Provides free and confidential social services, including workshops, support groups, career counseling, education, training, and job development services to performing arts and entertainment professionals. In 2024, served 11,274 individuals through social services and 3,299 through career development programs.

Provides approximately 5,500 square feet of affordable rehearsal and co-working space for artists, including through the 2,000 sq ft black box theater at the Schermerhorn Residence, which serves over 60 small arts groups and individual artists annually.

Enrolls young performers in the Looking Ahead program, which provides tailored support services. As of 2024, enrolled 1,102 youth participants.

Plans and executes new construction projects to develop affordable housing units for low- and moderate-income households. Projects include multi-family developments and single-family homes at locations such as Beaver Meadow, Moses Dewitt, Tipperary Hill, and 1208 Bellevue Ave, including the construction of designated units like House 3.

Provides financial grants to income-eligible homebuyers and homeowners for the rehabilitation of single- and two-family homes and for critical home improvements, including replacement of aging mechanical systems, roofs, furnaces, windows, and electrical and plumbing components.

Owns and manages affordable housing developments, including ongoing operations and tenant services at sites such as Beaver Meadow and Moses Dewitt.

Undertakes rehabilitation of vacant and deteriorating housing units to improve safety, affordability, and energy efficiency. Activities include structural repairs and replacement of critical systems such as roofs, furnaces, windows, and plumbing and electrical components, as demonstrated by the rehabilitation of House 2 and other properties.

Obtains financing for housing development and rehabilitation initiatives from a range of public and private sources, including HOME, HOPE, CDBG, NYS, Affordable Housing Corporation, New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, Federal Home Loan Bank, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, and private lenders.

Engages in advocacy at state and local levels to support legislation benefiting REALTORS® and homeowners, oppose harmful policies, and influence housing decisions through lobbying, public campaigns, and collaboration with lawmakers. Examples include supporting limits on listing agreement durations, advocating for streamlined housing approvals, and delaying restrictive building mandates.
