Barrier Reduction

By reducing structural, social, and emotional barriers to access, we increase engagement in recovery and prevention services, because individuals are more likely to seek and sustain help when stigma, logistics, and entry requirements are minimized. This strategy centers on removing obstacles—such as housing instability, lack of referrals, financial constraints, or fear of judgment—that prevent individuals from accessing substance use treatment and support. Unlike clinical or therapeutic models that focus on intervention after entry, this approach prioritizes accessibility as the foundational step for engagement. It unites diverse tactics like low-barrier housing, naloxone distribution, stigma campaigns, and simplified service intake under a shared belief: reducing friction at the point of entry enables sustained participation in healing processes.
