mission · from form 990

Shazur Interwoven was founded to help Israelis gain a better understanding and renewed appreciation of their American counterparts. We curate immersive experiences, interpersonal encounters, on-site learning, workshops, and plain old fun, that introduce Israelis to the building blocks of American Jewry and its contribution to the unfolding story of our people. By offering our services to groups of all backgrounds and ages, we aim to reach a critical mass of Israeli opinion-leaders and cultivate a renewed sense of shared destiny between the two epicenters of world Jewry.

profile · synthesized from sources

Shazur Interwoven strengthens ties between Israeli and American Jews through immersive delegations, educational workshops, and cultural programming. The organization designs week-long U.S. trips for Israeli opinion leaders and offers shorter in-country experiences focused on Jewish peoplehood. It also produces media content and live performances, such as the documentary series "The New Jew" and the play "Heschel's Passover Eve," to broaden public engagement with diaspora Jewish life.

The New Jew was a four-part mini-series produced for the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Israel. Additional episodes are being developed.
  2. #2 $62K
Heschel's Passover Eve American Tour: Shazur was proud to produce the U.S. version of Heschel's Passover Eve, a play that delves into the life of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, a visionary American Jewish leader, and his perspectives on Jewish peoplehood and identity in the 20th century. In addition to producing the play, we managed its distribution across Jewish venues throughout the United States, bringing it to 20 different communities. To deepen the impact, we ran educational programs designed to help audiences engage with and process the play's themes.

How they approach the work

Named approaches extracted from this org’s sources. Where others share an approach, follow it to see the full set of orgs running it.

  • Critical Mass Public Education
    methodology: critical_mass_public_education
By engaging diverse Israeli communities and age groups in sustained education about world Jewry, we produce national-level shifts in perception, because broad-based exposure normalizes connection to the global Jewish community.
  • Immersive Encounter Model
    methodology: immersive_encounter
By facilitating firsthand, unmediated experiences between Israelis and American Jews, we produce deeper mutual understanding and shift perceptions of disconnection toward shared responsibility, because direct personal engagement disrupts stereotypes and builds authentic relationships.
  • Shared Destiny Narrative Building
    methodology: shared_destiny_framing
By framing Israeli-Diaspora relations as a shared destiny through educational and cultural programming, we produce stronger Jewish peoplehood identity, because collective narratives foster mutual responsibility beyond geographic or political boundaries.
