RAMAPO MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB INC

Facilitates coordination for local skiing trips, including carpooling to ski areas, and provides access to discounted tickets for local ski areas through a partnership with the New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council. Organizes group accommodations and meals during club events.

Organizes a community of approximately 300 skiers and snowboarders. Requires prospective members to attend four club-sponsored events and collect signatures on a hospitality card. Grants associate membership upon application approval and payment of fees, with a pathway to full voting membership through a basic skiing or snowboarding skills assessment.

Operates approximately thirty committees that organize skiing, snowboarding, junior programs, racing, hiking, barbecues, indoor games, and social events for members, enabling broad participation and event coordination across the club’s activities.

Offers members a monthly newsletter, discounted ski tickets, reduced rates on trip transportation and lodging, access to a chef during ski season at modest cost, and use of club-branded merchandise. Reimburses members up to $300 for ski lessons from approved professional instructors.

Operates an active inter- and intra-club ski racing program and hosts events such as the annual Improvement Weekend, which includes skiing skills training. Awards the Elizabeth Farnham Trophy annually to the Most Improved Skier and recognizes outstanding instructors with the Frank Filippelli Award.

Offers a structured instruction program for skiing that supports participants from beginner level to racing, including voluntary Silver and Gold proficiency tests and a mandatory Bronze skills test for new members to assess safe skiing ability. Administers annual ski proficiency testing, certifying an average of 40 basic and 7 standard skiers per year, and conducts skills testing to promote safe skiing practices.

Organizes junior weekends at the lodge two to three times per year and offers subsidized outings to Big Snow at American Dream mall for junior skiers, along with discounted adult tickets. Facilitates youth participation through junior programs and family-inclusive events.

Organizes weekly social meetings, game nights, dinners, presentations, picnics, training sessions, and trips during the ski season. Hosts annual events including a banquet attended by 63 members and guests, a picnic at Round Pond in West Point with barbecuing and kayaking, and a Trifecta Award tournament featuring darts, billiards, and shuffleboard. Also organizes a 2026 TGR Film tour and a ski event at Pico Mountain, VT.

Operates a 40-bed lodge at Mad River Glen in Vermont with 10 bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities, a living room with fireplace, modern kitchen, and dining room. The lodge is maintained through ongoing renovations, including structural repairs, energy efficiency upgrades, and facility improvements such as window and propane tank replacement. Members access the lodge year-round for recreational activities and must book stays in advance through a reservation system.

Provided first aid training to over 1,500 individuals, contributing to community safety and emergency preparedness beyond club membership.

Presents the Aorangi Award annually to members for outstanding service to the club, selected by a committee of prior recipients. Honors members and instructors through formal awards during annual events.
