How they approach the work

Named approaches extracted from this org’s sources. Where others share an approach, follow it to see the full set of orgs running it.

  • Amplification of Marginalized Global Voices
    methodology: amplifying-marginalized-voices
By intentionally seeking out underrepresented authors and literary traditions, we amplify marginalized voices in translation, because diverse perspectives enrich the literary landscape and challenge dominant cultural narratives.
  • Gender-Conscious Translation Practice
    methodology: gender-conscious_translation
Through structured dialogue among translators, we implement gender-conscious translation methods to produce more equitable and accurate renderings of literary texts, because linguistic choices in translation can reinforce or challenge gender norms.
  • Literary Translation as Cross-Cultural Exchange
    methodology: translation-for-cross-cultural-exchange
By translating and publishing significant literary works from diverse global traditions, we foster cross-cultural understanding and exchange among readers, writers, and educators, because access to international voices deepens global empathy and broadens literary discourse.
