The mission of the international center is to support and facilitate multidimensional, multidisciplinary, national and international, comparative, integrative, dialogue among social scientists and scholars of other relevant fields to: 1) raise awareness of the universal importance and the ubiquitous suffering incurred through multigenerational legacies of trauma; these professionals will further develop and disseminate scientifically valid measures and growing knowledge of the nature and transmission mechanisms of trauma, 2) find ways to prevent its destructive legacies from being perpetuated to succeeding generations; as well as devise principles and programs to promote resilience, treat and assist affected individuals, families and communities to cope with their traumatic histories toward a peaceful, fulfilling future, and 3) utilize informed, stigma-free, advocacy to raise sociocultural awareness of and commitment to preventing trauma and its multidimensional, lifelong and multigene
